Does wood/leather wheel get too hot in the summer sun?
2009 only comes with wood/leather steering wheel. Although it's pretty, I'm concerned about wood section getting too hot in the summer sun. Also I prefer the leather wheel because entire wheel is heated in the winter. Any comments? Thanks.

I've got wood leather steering wheels in both my cars, love the feel. If I'm going to be parked in the sun on a really hot day I use a collapsible sun shield.
I've put a towel over it too, but the sun shield is better overall, protects more than just the wheel.

Enjoy the steering wheel. In cold winters here in Ontario the heated feature is nice since it warms up very fast. You just hold onto the wheel ( in the "3 O'CLOCK / 9 O'CLOCK " position) and it's fine.
I actually like what they did with the wood steering wheel in this new series in that there is a bit of a "hard edge" feel on the back of it. Plus it looks way better than all leather.
(WSH a MB world member would disagree as he thinks they look "curmongerly" or whatever that word is. ) Definately gives the car a nice look and feel imo. No worries...

I have noticed when it has been hot in Dallas this summer that the wood gets almost too hot to touch. So, I hold the leather for less than a minute and the woods is cooled off enough to touch.

My car with the wood steering wheel sits outside all day while Im at work, and I've never noticed that the wheel was too hot to touch. While it does get warm, it cools quickly and was never uncomfortable.
