Lease an S550 then buy it out and sell it? Good/Bad Idea?
Hello Everyone,
I have a question. If I were to lease an 09 Mercedes S550 with an $87K Sticker for 36 months with LeaseCompare (I assume I could negotiate a $101K sticker for $81K which would make the lease payment lower as Im pretty sure they mean negotiated sticker not regular sticker), then my monthly payment would be $1,728 with a $35,547 residual for 36 months. Judging by the fact that the 07 S550 goes for $60K used, and will probably go for $50K in 06 and thats not counting a $101K car, would it be smart for me to get the lease, pay my ($1728*36 = $62208), then buy it out at $35547 and sell it for $55K? Thereby taking $20K off my payments and making the price around $1128/mo overall? Or am I rolling a huge dice that could with heavy certainty leave me with the $1728 overall monthly payments and a residual more than the car's value? Or is it a sure bet that an S550 woulden't depreciate that fast due to the new body not coming out for another 5 years allowing me to nab it at such a discounted price?
Any Ideas? Thanks.

Well it would be 50-55k on a regular monthly payment but with LeaseCompare the monthly payment is jacked up in return for a low residual -- check it yourself.

If your goal is a large payment in return for small buyout just do a loan instead of lease. Then your buyout will be zero. Advantage of lease is low payment in return of higher risid/buyout and obvious bus depreciation and reduced sales tax. So not sure of what your trying to do makes sense. Curious what the payment would be if you just bought it with loan especially if your getting 20k off. Assume it would be close to this lease payment with good rate.?

The payment would probably be around $2.5K/Mo + Tax I believe, do you think I could get it at lease payment and then that would be a smart idea because of the no residual after 36 months? But remember, Im financing 80K, so it would have to be at least $2.2K after 36 months with 0% interest if it existed.

Alright, so probably my best bet is to get a used 08/07 fully loaded and lease that used car? I dont really see the benefit of getting an 09 new versus an 07 used, its still an S Class and Im not the one to waste money
EDIT -- Decided to go with a BMW 750Li with an MSRP of $91K+, I dont think the $600+ extra monthly premium is worth it for the S Class. Am I right in this regard?
Thanks!

hdtv22,
it would be quite foolish getting a 2008 750li. The body style is being switched in just a couple of months. The new body style will make the past body style, look like a vehicle from the early decade. I suggest either wait it out for the new 7, or get an 07 08 used s class and be happy.
Take care

You can save even more if take LS460. I bleive you can get well loaded LS under $70K. Lexus doesn't plan to change body style soon, so your car won't look as from XX century.
