XM on our Sirius radios

Hi all-

With the merger, Sirius listeners can now get a "Best of XM" package added on and hear some good content (Like Opie & Anthony, my favorite).

I called Sirius, and they said my 2007 S550 is incompatible and won't get this. At least, nto yet. Which made no sense since the XM content would be coming to me via Sirius satellites.

Supposedly they're working on an "adapter" that will allow it.

Any of you have additional helpful info?

It was my understanding that there wil be some new tuners that can interchange the signals but for now the available tuners cannot do this.

Does the merge mean that you may have two radios and pay as for one?

There may be, but for now, a 2nd tuner shouldn't be necessary. The "Bestof XM" is just a few channels broadcasting traditional XM programming over some channels on Sirius' satellite signal.

Just doesn't make sense.

That can't be the long term plan. A key oblective of the merger is to lower costs and not just programing. They need to shut down one network over time and therefore will only need one tuner. The issue will be in the meanwhile they will work on ways to more quickly share the programing benefits but will require adaptors and second tuners.

It makes sense. I do not know if it is result of merge or some other problem, my tuner skips some channels, for example 72.

No, since we annexed Canada two years ago.

Has anyone found out what Sirius is doing for lifetime subscribers? Do we get the best of XM? I thought the lifetime subscription covered ALL of their channels.

That's crazy. I'm not going to do it. It should be free. They merged. That's not our fault. We should be getting it anyway.
