2009 S550 fuel economy

I noticed the 2009 EPA estimate for the S550 is 22 vs. 21 for the 2008. Anyone know if they tweaked the 09 car to get the improvement or was the 08 test flawed?

Would they have to test the car again if there were no (fuel consumption related) changes between the model years?

Both tests are flawed, the car is capable of reaching 27 or 28 mpg on the highway.

I agree the S550 is capable of much better than 14/21 or 22. Just curious what caused the 09 to go up from 21 highway to 22. Did they change the drivetrain? Of course the salesman had no clue there was even a difference.

2007 CL550
The CL550 has shown mpg ratings slightly worse than the S550.
I have a 2007 CL550 and have gotten up to 27 mpg on a smooth running freeway at 70 mph. I usually get 24 to 25 when in heavy traffic.

The mileage goes way down when traveling in heavy stop and go traffic on city streets.

That would be because the 09 CL550 has 4matic.

FWIW
I've had an 09 S550 4matic since August

14.4 mpg around town
18.2 mpg highway

actual measurements; not trip computer
