I haven't heard of a $30K off deal on an 08. Given the incentives on 08's are now $12K (up recently from $10K) I would think that translates into a $24-$25K discount.

Yeah most dealers wont do 30k off and most of the 08 S550's left have strange colors and options...but thanks and KEEP THE INFO COMING GUYS!!!

You might want to wait. As we head into the depression you will be able to pick one up for your friends neighbor and his friend. Prices for 08's are going to continue to get SMOKED. Look whats happening at the auctions

You could get $30K+ off on '08s, but most are probably unregistered dealer demos, gm's car, etc, with XXXX miles. In two weeks, they will officially be all used cars selling probably in the $60-70Ks. Big on the recession- everything will be cheaper to buy!

+1,pretty sure in mid late jan i'll be picking up a fully loaded s550 for 65k cash.

Will do,just be wait a bit! these cars are dropping like a rock. Dealers are CHOCKING on inventory with very little means to finance it. I'm hearing 07 are trading at auctions at 40k

I would hope you would want prices to stabilize, or at least stop the off-the-cliff depreciation.

Once prices start stabilizing, that means there's actually people buying them.

If 2007 S550's hit the 20-25k mark by next year, odds are most of us will be out of a job or under paid, or we'll be living in bomb shelters.

i think we all need to relax on this whole depreciation-off-the-cliff scenario and getting only $25,000 for 221 body style trade. your are talking extremes here. if you look at the post a few notches up that discusses "high, low, average" for auction prices and mileage and do a little analytical review, i think you'll see that the wholesale prices at $36,000 are for a car with over 100,000 miles on it. who wants a car with 100,000 miles on it? even if you can have it for a song? likewise, the low mileage car at 8,000 is wholesaling for $63,000. add $10k for dealer markup or so and you're back to a more respectable $73,000 for a two year old car. we all know the depreciation curves are steep in the first few years of ownership; it's a known 'cost' for buying new. but for those that think they can get a 221 for $50,000 today; you probably can. i suspect it will be very high mileage and in fairly rough condition. pay your money, take your choice.

Nope, Let it CRASH,nothing would make me happier to pick up a 07 for 20-25k. Who told MB to flood the market with overpriced cars that cant hold there value.

Where the hell are you getting those figures? You can get a good S550 from wholesale, above average with under 15K miles, probably under $48K. The fact that the good ones go for $63K and your going to pay a whopping $10,000 dealer markup is ridiculous. The good ones also go for $48-52K and those markups in this economy arent that easy to come by, you might aswell just have someone escort you to the auction if your going to pay that kind of premium

Why would anyone pay 73k for a 07 with 8000 miles on it when they can an get a brand new 08 for that price I would be very suspect of those auction prices. When are they from? in case nobody noticed the economy has fallen off a cliff in the last 2 months. Look at housing, job losses stock market, etc...I think for those non belivers go to your local mb dealers and see what they will give you for your 07/08. I think you will be shocked.
