that red one
If you're looking to pay $70k, you might be better off buying from a private party who is desperate to sell or even possibly a non MB dealership.

Unfortunately, you can't even purchase an "average" condition 08' S550 4Matic at an auction for $70k.

Glad you walked away in one piece from your accident...good luck to you.

Yeah , it is disheartening to see these values drop so hard, but in this economic climate, NOTHING has any hopeful trade in value once it is in the hands of the initial owner.
That goes for homes, boats, motorcycles, a wheelbarrel , and probably even a gallon of milk

In all fairness, that car has over 48,000 miles (in two years!)

That's probably about right for 48k miles. It's not ceritified, which would automatically add another $4k-$5k on that sale price ( I say this b/c it most likely needs a service, brakes, and tires).

CLS63, GLK350
I bought my new 2008 CL550 with 20 miles on it the end of December. It listed for $118K and I paid $88K. MB was giving the dealers $20K marketing cash plus $10K off from the dealer got me to the $30K off. You need to check Edmunds to see what MB is now kicking back on the left over S550's, then add another $7-10K and that is what you should be able to do. Hope that helps.

That is interesting. I took my SL in last week for some routine maintenance and they had a new (8 miles)2007 CL550 on the lot with a big sign on the windshield $20,000 off. I really have to wonder about the rationale that some of the dealers use on their pricing.
