Key fob batteries

Starting noticing that my car was stubborn at starting upon pressing the start button. Bought new batteries for the key fob, placed them in the fob, and all is working great again.

Keep in mind that this needs to be done about once a year

This is twice that I've had to do this so it seems about 12 months is about all you will get out of couple of $5 batteries. It's like a MAD magazine....CHEAP!

Trumpet1, Did you have to replace the batteries in both keys or just the one you use everyday?

If the key has lost any functions first check for, and remove any soil or grease from the battery or battery contacts using a lint-free cloth and alcohol. When replacing, do not touch the batteries on their contact sides.

I know it will not break the bank to replace a battery or two every so often just thought I would throw this out there as a matter of reference.

This was about a KG key, it would should be more dependent how much the "key was driven in the car" where it would need to respond periodically unlike when the key is kept at home.

I never replaced batteries for 6 years, I do not know why others needs to do it annually.

Why KLG eats more energy? I have KLG I guess.

Are you sure you have KG (the option where you can keep your key untouched in the pocket when approaching the car, opening doors, driving away and when leaving the car and locking doors)? Anyway KG keys communicate with the car not only when opening/closing doors but when approaching the car and when in the car (periodically). This all runs from the key battery.

If the key is inserted to the ignition slot, it would be powered from EIS ("wireless"). So a normal key does not use the battery a lot.

My key was still working but not as dependable. I probably could have gotten another few months use out of the batteries. Replacing every year was just an approximation of time (at least for me).
