I test drove 2 2007 S550 4matics back to back at a dealer and when I came to a stop, I could feel engine vibration in the steering wheel, even more so than my Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel. Has anybody else had this problem?

I don't have this problem at all on my '07 S550. It's not a 4Matic though. Is it possible it's an issue with 4Matics since both of the S' you drove were 4Matic?
I am not sure. I have driven a few others and don't recall this happening before, but thought it was odd that 2 in a row would do it. I am finally ready to buy one but was kind of turned off by that. (I am pretty picky about little things).
Anybody else notice this?

Interesting. I wonder if it would resolve the problem that I saw - which was at idle RPMs (700ish maybe)Originally Posted by konigstiger

I have the same issue with a 2007 cl 550 in my shop now. humming/vibration at low rpm's. Between 800-2000. i thought it was the ABC Damper but now i am hearing motor mounts. I have checked the lines changed out the Harmonic balancer, idler pulley, water pump and the power steering pump is 2 years old.
Anyone have some ideas i would greatly appreciate it.

I had same vibration issue, replaced engine and tranny mounts, issued resolved. 2012 S550 4-matic. 100k miles. Replaced same on 2007 SL550 30k miles, no more vibrations (just good vibes when driving).

When I saw the headline for this thread the first thing I thought was engine mounts.

If the engine is idling smoothly but you can feel a vibration through the steering wheel then it is almost certainly going to be engine/transmission mounts.
New on this site and didnt' know where to go to post this, but where can you get the LED Carbonfiber Performance steering wheels in the U.S.? I have a 2009 SL550 and have seen the COPART SL550 video which had this wheel installed somewhere in Europe. I'm not sure if it federal regulations issues, but It seems this wheel cannot be purchased and installed here in the US.
