S500 - UK 56 Plate (early/late 06/07 car) ipod and bluetooth question

Hi there,
I've come to this forums to look for some help with my car. I've been the dealership and I just wanted to see if there was anyway that you guys recommend.

I'm looking to add an ipod connector to my car - its got full options spec at the time of purchase, but the ipod connector wasn't an option at the time. What is the best way of add ipod cable to my car?

Originally, when I bought my car I got the K800 phone adaptor for it - but since then the phone has become old and I've now got an Iphone 3G. Is there any to connect this phone to my car - it seems that It needs to be plugged in and paired on bluetooth to work?

Also is there anyway to check the software version on the car (and what is the current latest software version?)

Thanks in advanced.

I've got an 08 S65 and had the ipod connector in the glove box fitted by the dealer. I don't like it and don't use it. I shows track info next to the speedo and has zero functionality. Instead, I've put music on DVDs in the dashboard stacker - this allows full use of Comand with all album and track info. However, getting the DVDs to burn just right wasn't easy though...

I've also got an iphone 3G kit with Bluetooth in the centre console. The dealer tried on Friday to connect the cradle to the Comand via a cable just in from the Fatherland but it didn't work. I'm still waiting to hear what went wrong. OTOH, the iphone works well as a phone at least. It is paired via BT and doesn't need to be in the cradle to work but when it is in the cradle, it charges (obviously). I'm just hoping to get the music playing from the iphone. I'll let you know when this happens.

Hi thanks for your reply. My iphone is paired to the car, but it just will not work. The bluetooth doesn't activate for some reason. Any ideas why that could be?

I'm guessing you have paired the phone with the head unit instead of a BT adapter at the UHI connector (and that you don't even have that HF BT adapter that is needed for calling with an iPhone).

I think you maybe right there.
Would you recommend getting that adaptor or just going for the Iphone 3G dock?

I have no experience about the iPhone dock, hopefully others can comment.

I recommend going with the iPhone 3G dock - is is effectively a BT adaptor and a charger. It is a cinch to pair. One day I hope to unlock the phone's stored music through it too but I'm still happy with it.
