does your top brake light stay on as well, similar to the drivers?
or is the passenger side out?

Ordered from express parts, great service, followed the instructions on this thread, easy install, even for me.
I would add that it is easier to get access if you remove the spare wheel cover.
The lights are awesome, look great, fit is perfect, no errors.

Does anyone know if Master Tuning at mastertuning.net, went out of business? I've been trying to pull these guys up on their website to price some conversion parts, but no luck.

so i installed my set of led tails from fishcake and i have problems. when arming the car, the passenger side tail flashes normally, the entire led section lights up. the driver side only the bottom signal portion flashes, none of the red leds flash. I tried unplugging the connector a few times and once or twice the red leds flashed or maybe half a second and then it went back to just the signal flashing.

any thoughts on what it could be??

Sounds like bad conector. try the other side if it works fine on that side. Then you know.

Well i left the car on for about 20 minutes and the reverse happened. now the passenger side was completely out except for the bottom turn signal, and the driver side was all red.

i unplugged them a few times and sometimes the top foglight bulb would turn on and other times the entire led portion would turn on.

this is very strange

** also after leaving the car on i started getting error message as well stating rear left/right parking/brake light

Does anyone know if the colored trim pieces are interchangeable? If so I am looking to buy a passengers side tail light in any color for a 2008. If not I am looking to buy a 2008 tail light in white, :-)

I also looked for a DIY thread for replacing tail lights in a 221 but all I can seem to find is threads about upgrading to 2010 lights. I am assuming, take the carpet out, unbolt the light, plug in the new light and then put it all back together. The only thing that is throwing me off here is the colored trim. I have found lights for sale on ebay that are Oem but the trim are all in different colors except white, which is the color I need. I have also seen tons that are aftermarket which appear to not have any trim so that leads me to assume that the trim comes off somehow and can be moved to the new light? Either way I want Oem light only not aftermarket junk that won't work after a few months.

So anyone got a passengers side tail light with white trim?

the bulb looks intact, just unsure why its not lighting up.

also installed error free license plate lamp, parking light, smoked side marker w/ led, and led fog light

Which LED's did you use for the parking light? Did you remove the headlight to replace it?

If I'm not mistaken, that top driver's side light is supposed to be the rear fog light (not a brake light). In the US only one side (left side) is activated.

In a Mercedes-Benz the front or rear fog light works as follows: With the headlamps on 'Auto' or 'On' pulling on the switch towards you to the first position activates the front fogs, pulling again to the second final position activates the rear fog lamp as indicated by the bottom middle indicator light symbol. By design I can see why this may confuse people into thinking the 3 symbols under the w221 S-Class headlamp switch look like left and right rather than front and rear.

When I'm behind another driver with the rear fog lamp on (which looks stupid) I just wonder if the driver even knows how to operate the fog lamps.

Lightbulb S550 W221 2007 - Troubleshoot upgrade taillights

Hi MbWorld Members,

I could use your help. I purchased the after market tali-lights from Advanation for my S550, W221, 2007. However after the install, the tail-lights constantly blinked and the dashboard displayed 2-3 error messages. I would sincerely appreciate any help you could provide. Much to my display, the tail-lights have been returned to Advanation. I would really like to find a proven solution; one that works (no blinking, or malfunctions, and no error messages). I really love the look with the upgrade. Any direction, information, or thoughts / success stories / of proven aftermarket manufacturers? Thanks in advance for your help.

Its probably quality issue. There’s so much aftermarket company’s out there making these. Above is a link to a reputable seller, which I have purchased in the past for the same face lift tail lamps for my car. No error and worked 100%. Hope that help!

Guys, I don't want to reinvent the wheel, and multiple times in this thread a "crosswire" is mentioned. Can anyone confirm what do I cross with what to make this work?

this is the connector I have:

I'll answer myself: bridge pin 7 with non-existing pin 2 and you will get results:

Well mine were plug and play so no idea. Do you mean you want the Amber LEDs on with the tail lights?

no sir, I am not talking about amber lights. If you try facelift lamps that are not dedicated to pre-facelift car, it will not light up the upper half of the lamp LEDs... that's been discussed earlier in the thread and folks were mentioning crosswire fixes... but I was unable to find the actual fix recipe. So I figured it out myself and all is looking sweeeet now!

On my pre-lift 2008/9 it was pin 7 bridged with unused pin 2 (on the other side of the car the numbering is mirrored, so it is PIN 1 with pin 6 - either way, first wire (blue/white) must go into first empty one). I managed to get a hold of a wire harness, so I harvested pins from it and re-used. On the picture below PIN 2 was the one that was missing.
