They're two completely separate options. I don't think there's a higher chance of finding an AMG package S with ABC, compared to a non AMG package S with ABC.

And btw, that $30k number is really depressing.

What's really depressing, and this is something all M-B models eventually suffer, however none worse than the S-Class, is when they get cheap enough for the "underclass" to snap up. S's get it really bad as they are the ultimate status symbol. The W220 is going through that right now big time, it almost has affected how I see the car now, considering I always loved it. They're either really tacky modded, or super beat up and ghetto'd out, etc. being driven by guys who constantly look like they have a huge chip on their shoulder.

W221 certainly ain't there yet, I guess there's still another year or two before it starts to show up as a problem.

S600/63/65s have ABC standard.

@KA- I completely agree with you. I'm not looking forward to the day the W221 becomes like the 220.

If you don't mind can you tell me how much 04 E500's are going for in auction? This maybe a long shot but how much do you think a 04' E500 is worth? This would be the car to trade in for a 07' S600. 04 Silver/Ash E500 with appearance sport; package/hid/HK package. 24k miles, 1 owner and warrantied through Easycare til i believe 2012.

This weekend I went to Rockville Center MB in Long Island and did test drive 2007 S550 with 37K miles on it. The car is great and it's CPO, but when you look at auction prices - you understand what a rip off this CPO is. According to these prices you can buy S with 25K miles for $45K.
Dealer asking prices for the car like this with CPO is $58K. Are they out of their mind to charge for one year warranty 10 grand ( after negotiation of the price ). Prices will go down a lot during next couple months.

they R out there to make money. they r not just charging for warranty but also for a clean car. every car cannot be a certified car, keep that in mind. if u know somebody who goes to those auctions and help u buy a clean car then good. but for the rest of us they R just numbers and totally unrealistic to me. last week I was offered 69k for my 2008 S550 sport pkg towards a trade. car has 6500 miles on it. which is under 2000 from blue book value.
just my opinion.

yes S class is the best, go buy one and enjoy. I can vouch for most of us on the forum, trumpet, wsh, austin and many others have paid good money for our rides and I bet everyone of us R enjoying the heck out of it. I Know I Am

Here in NY it's not a problem to find a dealer to go to Manheim auction.
I know at least 3 guys. One of them lives 2 blocks from my house. He just sold black 2007 S550 AMG package car with 26K miles on it for $52K to a guy. I saw this car - perfect condition. I assume he got it for about $48K-$49K at Manheim.

I think 10 grand is pretty standard in mark up from acution to CPO. I noticed the same thing with BMW's. There are some costs to the dealer (shipping fees, auction fees, new brakes-tires ect..) but that is why alot of $$ is made in used cars.
