Service "D" & Cabin AC Filter
Is it the Ussual Oil Filter Change and a Cabin AC Filter Change?
If so, how do you change the Cabin AC Filter yourself?

Also, what mileage did your car have on it when it triggered the Service D message? Mine has around 38000 miles on it. I think it normally would be 40K miles but I've repeatedly taken mine in a tad early each time the reminder message pops up and I'm wondering if I am artificially making this light come on early over time.
Or is there something about the oil condition that triggers this message ?
Btw, in about 20 days, I'm due for the B service and I was told it would be $350, so if they're doing quite a few things extra in the D service, the price sounds about right, although steep.

One MB mechanic who doesn't work at a MB dealership told me to get an oil change in the middle of Service reminders. He told me that they are stretching this oil thing out too far and that these lengthy times between oil changes is really risky. I know this was true for the M classes ten years ago. Many M classes were breaking down and several lawsuits were pressed upon MB dealerships from owners.

Suddenly today it states that service "E" is due in 600 miles !!!
How did this happen?? It skipped over service D and forgot to remind me for 400 miles.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Service A = 1hr of labor
B=2hr
C=3hr
D=4hr
etc.
There is NO specific item associated with a particular service, although A is probably 100% an oil change.
You need to read your maintenance schedule and figure it out yourself if you really want to know. Certain items are mileage dependant, some time dependant.
The FSS system is clearly designed for those who just want it "taken care of" and are not overly concerned about the cost.
If you do not have your maintenance schedule, sign up with MBowners online. You can download the service manual for your car. If your car is used, try to get a service record printed at your dealer.
These cars are not tough to take care of, and you don't need them to spend time inspecting the paint (part of service item I dont remember).
