2010 S550, S550 4M and S63 August 5
The V8 S-Class models were released to dealers on August 5th.
The following was sent to dealers...
S550V, S550V4, S63 AMG / CL550C4, CL63 AMG
As a result of efficiency measures coinciding with the facelift, the 2010 S550V is exempt from Gas Guzzler Tax (from $1,000 in MY09). While others are launching all-new flagship vehicles with lower fuel economy, the S-Class demonstrates its continued leadership with efficiency measures which yield improved “real-world” fuel economy. These exceptional measures, combined with the forthcoming launch of the S400 HYBRID, demonstrate our commitment to more efficient automobiles.
Incorporating similar efficiency measures, the S550V4 has a reduced Gas Guzzler Tax of $1,000 (from $1,300 in MY09).
Finally, the S63 AMG realizes a 1mpg increase in its highway EPA rating.

Speaking of ports, does anyone know if many of the stockpiled S classes have sold? I remember seeing pictures of ports just overflowing with cars of all kinds, and many were S classes and other Benzes.

Across the entire auto industry, there is about 5 million units of production that needs to be taken out. Of course, GM and Chrysler are doing more then their fair share of the reduction, but its everywhere. Sales at the 15 million per year level aren't coming back, no matter how many taxpayer "clunker" dollars are shoveled into the market.

That was in the spring, factory production essentially ceased at that time once they saw the inventory imbalances, and they started to sell only off that stock.

Thanks. I remember now that MB ceased production for a month or so back around December or January due to this. I guess the stockpile has dropped since. I think you're right though about that, sales will always be dented from what they were in the decades prior to now.

Well I went to them to get my front pads and rotors replaced because the light was on. (~20,000 miles). At about 21,500 miles, the light came back on and they said the front rotors needed replacing. They said I was driving crazy and gave me all this sh** and said I had to pay again to replace em. I took it to my mechanic and he said it was the back rotors. He said the dealer was probably gunna "change the fronts" and then tell me the backs need replacing too afterwards
