Received 2010 S600 Order & Info From Dealer
So today I received an e-mail after asking my dealership where my car was? I had placed the order back in the begining of summer as some of you already know. They told me that delivery would take place in December/January since unfortunately Mercedes has cut production off all cars by 20%. Also all AMGs (Black Series as well), 600s, and remaining SLR allocations within the U.S. have been reduced by 75%. However, they are offering a fully loaded 2010 S63 AMG and I'm not sure if I should take that over what I ordered. Nevertheless, I wanted to share the order with you all and get your thoughts on whether or not I should go for it now with the S63 or wait for the S600?

+1.Significantly so.
Add to that that effortless driving afforded by the monstrous torque of 600.
The only advantage of the 63 IMO,is a more aggressive (tasty though) styling and louder, better(?) sound.
I would stick with the 600,suits better the character of the limo an S-Class really is,sort of like buying a better Maybach (IMO) for a fraction of the price.

600 for sure. More power, more comfort. As absent said, it's like a Maybach except your paying half the price for a more advanced vehicle...

Wait for the 600. I had an 08 63 on order and when it came in I wasn't as impressed as I thought I should be. I bought an 07 S600 that satisfied the desire of interior quality and torque

Absolutely the S600 - its in a different league and worth waiting a few months... and if MB has really cut the numbers of AMG's and 600's being imported by (a staggering) 75% you are going to have an even rarer, more distinctive, (and ultra-desirable) ride.
You know what to do...

I hear you, I was just having a tease.
I saw a W221 S65 earlier today, middle aged blonde lady driving it. Reminded me what a stunning vehicle- one of the 10 best in world in my opinion. My friend has one and I keep asking when he wants to let it go for cheap. My wife would KILL me if I traded in for one though, especially since our two youngest are getting close to school. Oh well, still love this old girl....

Wait for the S600. Don't make the mistake of buying the 63. You will not be happy with the plastic looking interior and it will lack the horsepower and torque. BTW, I noticed you did not order the new multispoke 20" wheels.

I think I will wait like you all suggest but also try out the S63.
@usctrojans1: Thanks for pointing out the wheels but I guess you mean 19s not 20s. They said bigger size in tire would make the drive less comfortable but to me it seems strange they would put something soo small on an S Class.

By the way, I prefer the standard 18's to the new multispoke 19's...I think the 19's are way too busy for this car.

Sonderklasse
S600 hands down. The motor (V12s are going to be more and more rare!) and interior quality puts this car in a different league from the S63.
If you prefer the looks of the S63, you can go aftermarket with Brabus/Kleemann (subtle kits) or personally I would do OEM AMG appearance kit, or even S65 kit w/ the quad oval tips! Would cost you over $10k but should boost satisfaction. Further, if you are the type who keeps and collects, I think the V221 S-Class esp in 600 and designo trim is highly desireable.

Go with the S600. Just picked mine up last week and still can't get the smile off my face! The S63 is a very attractive car, but for me, the refinement of the 600 (plus the V12 which is the main reason why I got it over the 63 or 550) makes it the only choice. Remember, there is no substitute for superior quality.

Contacted the dealer and changed from 18s to 20s on the tires. Now time to play the waiting game.
Thanks again for all your thoughts and suggestions.

This would be a tough one for me, I'm still "young", so I wouldn't mine the added "rough" character of the S63, and I LOVE V8's and especially their exhaust notes. For me I'd essentially go with the 600 due to that incredibly smooth and linear motor which catapults you endlessly, and especially the ultra-refined additions to the interior. however a deal breaker would be that it HAS to have an AMG Package. I can't drive any M-B Sedan personally without the AMG Package, as it always looks much better IMO, although the '10 F.L W221's regular package looks pretty damn close.
