V12 and the NE

To all of the owners of V12 in the NE, what has your experience been driving in the winter. I am replacing my 07 4matic and am seriously considering the s600, but I always drive throughout the year, would love feedback from all of you that have the V12 and drive through the winter. Is the s600 or any of its variables driveable in winter, with appropriate tires. BTW, will probably order via EDP by yearsend.

If you live in a place with a remote driveway/lots of hills stick with 4-matic...otherwise go for it

IIRC, markopolo commutes yr-round via CL600 from Poconos into NYC; another frequent poster commutes yr-round via S63 from Westchester into NYC

Have two colleagues in Greenwich who commute via S600 into Manhattan in Winter (they use S65 rest of yr; and each got 600s after unhappy w/S550 4M (wimpy brakes, lack of ABC, plastic interior))....and one of them is now going to use '10 S65 for Winter and yr-round (winter tire tech has advanced considerably in past 3yrs and AMG re-calibrated 65 throttle response for improved traction in MY09)

Good luck; I think you'll find that once addicted to 600/65 tq/brakes and precision/stability, it's difficult to enjoy driving anything else, in any weather

Use a C300 4Matic in the winter.

I'd say definitely go for it.
Have separate set of rims with winter tires on them, in my case Pirelli Sottozero and enjoy the car. Some guys here have different winter tires so do some search.
Last winter, rather heavy in my neck of a woods, I had no problems at all.
(Except salt and rock chips, but that's normal warrior scars, right WHS? )

Your crazy for driving that in the winter in the NE. I dont have traction on wet pavement, not to mention frozen pavement. to much tq for that, put it up for a few months and drive something else.

Any car I buy I have to drive ALL the time, otherwise what is the point. An acquaintance has a F430, he bought it in spring and it has 800 or so miles. He is usually seen driving a Toyota Corrolla(I just do not believe a car is a driveway ornament). I could drive my GL and get the wife a metropass. I appreciate the feedback. I love my 4matic, you can drive on a sheet of ice with this thing, but would love to try the V12 this time. FYI...Mercedes is not building many s600 for MY10, earliest delivery is in spring whether you go for Euro delivery or otherwise. Anyway, will keep all informed.

There is no such a thing as too much torque!
Too heavy of a foot, maybe...
