yup 5300 for headlights including parts. 1 week back-order on the parts, plus 3 day service...they've done 11 or so and have one after another coming in. I think the 2010 headlights look amazing, but honestly the look is not $5300 different.
the reason i was looking into the jap parts was because my understanding was that they had developed a "kit" which i guess i thought to be more of a plug and play, thus thought that it would shave some off the cost as i could self install.

I thought the reason we are looking at these guys was because no-one has ever done it here in the states. Did I miss something?

I think if you're truly interested in seeing what Japan has to offer in comparison, contact them when I post the contact information. I think regardless of the which way you go your going to have to get the SAM for both the front and rear. Also, if I remember reading even in Japan the price was around 5K. Unfortunately it didn't list what was included for that price. I will see if I can get a detail list of what's included to include the price.

The japs did the full conversion, was the 5k for just the lights? because for exhaust, bumper, grill, head/tail lights, side view mirrors, i would say 5k for all those parts may just be a better deal?

Guys, bad news. My friend who owns a JDM shop contacted the Japanese shop and they told me that even though they developed a "kit" for it which will make the conversion error free, there's still a lot of wire splicing and reworking to be done in order for the LEDs to work.

I seriously doubt you can just buy the whole setup and make it plug & play. Your next best bet would be the cartoyz guys who have done the conversion for the USDM cars...

Did they give your friend an idea about the price?

Just for the parts alone are over $5000 for the headlights. And that's not including the labor of the technician....

Yeah, that alone is to pricey and add the possibility that the Japanese conversions not working is to much for me to gamble with. I have one of the local shops that has done some mods before for me researching the complete 2010 S65 mods.

They have a "plug and play" set in 7-10 days ready

Mailed them, and will do my conversion next week there

TDwayne69, I'm interested as well since I am in NJ also. Please keep me in the loop if the local mod shop can do this. I was also thinking of complete 2010 S65 conversion (headlights, tail-lights, side view mirrors, front and rear spoiler, grill, and quad exhaust).

MTB, The plug-and-play you mentioned, is that here in the States?

MTB, can you let us know how much they charge you? are there any plugs other than the headlights?

This is on the website "Mounting on pre-facelift W221 models is possible, this must be by Star diagnostics directly at Mercedes-Benz will be recoded to the new headlights. "

There are two ways to do this - with a rear SAM replacement, that thing is something like $350 + labor to reprogramm SCN code the unit. The second way is to hard wire the lights to the original old SAM. Did Tuan at Kartoyz say if they rewire the lights or use a new 2010 rear SAM? I had Tuan do my exhaust on my CL55 4 years back. They did a good job, but it's not a shop I'd go back to again...

both headlights are $1863 on parts.com so if the jap guys can ship the plug and play kit it would be easier and cheaper then shipping the whole thing, right?

Guys, they are only selling the headlights. What the website is telling you is that you can do the conversion yourself with the Star diagnostics. It still doesn't tell you how to do the rewiring and how to do the coding....

Price is cheap though compared to other places...

It would be a rewire, because I told them i'm too far from them so I would maybe ship them my lights and have them do the re-wire.

Don't hack the car up like that, especially Kartoyz (Mb techs here in San Jose told me about some bad experiences with cars that they worked on and also folks from Autowest body shop said some bad things too) - I can put you in touch with a MB tech here that can take a new rear SAM (2010), SCN it with in a 2010 vehicle with the lights and ship it to you. Then you can have someone locally install the lights and the SAM.

From what i was told, it would only be the taillights being worked on. Tuan said If I ship the taillights he will rewire them to make it plug and play. That was my understanding, however I am open to your suggestions can you pm me his email address. Thanks

I just got a call back form my service rep at the MB dealership I use and he informed me that the parts alone would be around 5k and this is not include the front SAM nor installation. He told me that they can sell me the parts, but wouldn't modify the current lights. I have a appointment Thursday for them to take care of another issue and I will pick up the complete list of parts.

Hey CL55_Serge,

Do you know if your contact can give me a quote for all the parts for both the front and rear and including taking the new front (if needed) and rear SAM (2010) and SCN it with in a 2010?

I've done taillight, upgrade, and opted to do a re-wiring route. Tech said if something else goes wrong that's running off that sam, they'll need to put old sam back in, just to diagnose it. Side mirror's are already done as well. Car is @ kartoyz right now actually getting the 2010 headlights installed, and S65 LED Fog's. Will post pictures next tuesday or wednesday.

Hey Krylon, when you pick up your car, can you ask Tuan if they can come down to OC and do the conversion if they're ever make it down here? Thanks

hey jta00r1,
I also tried to see if Toan could come to OC, but he says it'd be too hard, no tools etc. He has a guy that comes picks up your car on a flatbed in the evening prior, and brings it first thing in the am. Very very reasonable price.

PROSTUFF in Japan Quote

Okay guys,

I finally got the information back from the representatives at PROSTUFF in Japan. Official quote is attached, good luck.

The remarks they made in their message are:

1. The price on the estimate is only for the product, and shipment fee will be required separately

2. The parts are of spec for Japan models. They do not guarantee applicability for U.S. models

They ship their products to overseas on cash on delivery by UPS or TNT accounts. If you have further question, you can send them e-mail message in English.

*They have an employee who can read and write English.

They also say that these products are very popular and stocks change every day. If any part is out of stock when order is placed, they will wait for backordered item. When the package is complete, they notify and request for payment.

*They will ship it only after your payment.

Following is the POC and e-mail address.
