Question Where did YOU find your S Class???

I've spent the last 2 days and endless hours (literally 5 hours or so a day) looking up 2007 S550's on Ebay, Cars.com, and Autotrader with no luck finding what I'm looking for.

I decided to start a thread on where YOU found your car. Was it online? Through a friend? At an auction?

Maybe I'll get some ideas or places to look that I haven't thought of or checked yet.

Thanks!

Use the MBUSA CPO section and I'm sure you will find one, I was at my preferred dealership today and the had an 2008 S550 with the AMG appearance package and 4 Matic.

Both of your cars look great. TDwayne I'm planning on on doing mine very similar to yours. Almost identical actually.

Did you have to roll the fenders or did you have any problems there?

It's more dependent on the rims than the tires, I didn't have any issues with the wheels that's on my Sig. However, I did have to get the my fenders slightly rolled with my new wheels.

Anything in specific I should know to ask when purchasing 22" wheels to avoid having to roll the fenders?

You just have to make sure you purchase a repeatable brand wheel and for the most part they should know the specifications for the car. I still have the set of wheels from the my Sig and pretty soon I'm going to post them for sale. The wheel I have on the car now, only rubbed sightly (but enough for me to address the issue). I think if you stick close to a wheel that is 22X9 in front and 22X10 in the rear you won't have any issues.

3 questions..

What tire pressure are you running on the 22's?
Has it affected the MPG?
Have you changed the pads as yet?

CL65 AMG , white S550 Sport w/ white Giovanna 22s, wild custom chopper
I run 43-44 PSI cold which gets up to 48 in current weather hot. I lower it a bit in the summer so I hit roughly 48-50 PSI when hot. I keep the high PSI to protect the rims as much as possible. Whomever had this car before me these these wheels on it in chrome, and I just changed the rear pads at 25k miles, I'm guess front where replaced before the 25k mark. Definitely I feel that the S550 calipers are small and it would have been nicer to have a bigger braking system. Tons of brake dust...

mercedes 2011 CLS550 with AMG package
I found mine by making a phone call to one of the local dealerships. I live in south florida and there a a lot of dearlerships here.

I looked for 3 weeks or so before I found one. I was at the auction grounds that day (2 days before the auction) and only found cars that had issues. I could not believe the quality of the cars that I saw there. On my way home, called a local dealership that I totally forgot about and they had EXACTLY what I was looking for. Drove 2 hours and purchased it within 15 minutes.

REGARDING the wheels,
I installed 21" HRE 943R a couple of weeks ago. I know that most of the guys install 22's. BUT if you have the abilty to order a set, I would highly recommend 21's. I called all the TUNERS and asked them a ton of questions. ALL of the tuners RENNTECH, BRABUS . . . . . CEC etc all recommends that 21's work the best (no fender issues, no rubbing, no . . . . . . . . ., BUT 22's will fit.

The S is my wifes car (kid machine -tooling around our daughters 6 and 4 years old). I almost pulled the trigger on 22's but I knew, that I / we would have future issues. All of her cars have had after market wheels and she is very good at being careful. I drive the car once a week and on the weekends. I LOVE that car

REGARDING PSI
I run 40 psi (cold) all the way around, accound to RENNTEch etc. . . . . . . .
