Remove light scratches from wood grain???

Has anyone had any experience trying to remove fine scratches in the woodgrain? I'm curious if this is something that can be done. I don't know what you would use that doesn't have any abrasives which can scratch or damage the wood grain finish.

I know the wood grain pieces, especially the main dash piece, are pricey to replace. So I guess the options are living with light fine scratches or try to polish them out somehow.

I would imagine the process would be like scratch removal on paint, since the wood has clear coat as well.

You should check the detailing and auto finishing section of the website.

The finish on the wood is a polyester clear coating that is very soft and has almost the same chacteristics as plastic. I have used Plexus plasitic polish on several of my cars. I have used microfiber cloths to apply it and buff off the residual but seem to end up with some scratches. I have been more sucessful in applying it with a sponge applicator, the same type used to apply waxes and sealants, cut into small pieces to get into the areas needing polishing and then buff out with a good micro fiber cloth. I cannot stress enough use a good cloth since a cheap micro fiber will induce more scratching than you removed.

Sounds risky and potentially could cause more damage than help.

The wood trim in my wife's car is piano black that scratches if you look at it wrong. If you take your time and have patience the wood trim scratches will come out nicely. I detail my cars and have quite an arsenal of polishes at my disposal and have found that the Menzerna polishes work well but the Plexus does a nice job on the wood trim as well. If done properly it will cure your problem and not create damage.
