For me it was pretty easy but I mess around with cars allmost on a daily basis :-) I used 3 hours in total, removed the frontbumper, removed the lights, took the lights apart, painted them with normal flat black spraypaint, put the lights back together and mounted them on the car again..

Honestly I don't remember how it was done . As far as I recall they used a heat gun to open them up at the shop. I wish I can be more of help.

I highly doubt they will discuss it over the phone, and most likely you spoke to the owner of the shop. He is not a fan of doing customized work like he did for this car. If you are not far away I recommend stopping by the shop and speaking to the manager (Arsan) see what he tells you and if they want to take the job.

This is simple. Use the oven to bake the headlights, and soften up the glue. Its just time consuming. $2k to paint headlights are insane. I'll do it for half that price if you want. LOL
But anyways. Just set the oven for about 275 for 10 mins or so. Make sure you put a towel under the light so it won't touch any metal. Once the glue get soft. Just pull it apart. Some have small plastic clips so you'll need a small flat head to pry that lose. Once you get the painting done. Just put the light back into the oven so the glue gets soft again. Then just push/clamp it together. I like to use a few clamps on the headlights while it's still in the oven. This method works best because as the glue soften. The housing are being sealed completely. Hope that help.

I can't really say the cost since the owner of the shop is family and a lot of more work was done to the car besides that headlight so it rolled in to all one large sum. I can say tho, that it is no were close to 2k mark.

Start heating about 4-5 inches of it and take pry tool or screwdriver and start lifting it, you ll see it will get loose, then heat 5 more inches and do the same thing. After you done with a job scrape off the adhesion from the headlight housing, or use Citrus remover to completely remove it. After you done just put any automotive gasket maker and put it back in. Leave it for 12 hours to heal, then check headlight to make sure gasket is spread evenly, if not then add some more, to make sure its sealed.

Its easier to do it with heatgun. Just dont heat whole headlight.
