What do you do with a TomTom now that you have a shiny new S-Class and built in NAV?? Use it for the back seat passengers, of course!

And dont forget that Mercedes "splash screen" on power off...

I think that dangling wire really takes away from the entire interior experience of the car for your rear seat passengers. I personally can't stand loose wires so it might be a personal thing But seriously, if you are planning to keep it there I would highly suggest that you figure out a way to hide the wire.

Kind of silly to have a TomTom for rear passengers, maybe that's the whole idea. For the super cautious, activate both units at the same time on your next drive, will be like the wife AND Mother-in-law nagging with directions....

Just for fun... Like when you're in an airplane and theres that map showing the gps position of the plane... Or, since its removable, take it with you on a walking tour, or...
For me the short wire is ok. The iPad mount does fit too, which is better back seat entertainment for movies, music, etc. Pair up with the Bluetooth headset and its a good use of tech we mostly all have and don't have to spend loads duplicating and getting installed...

I just couldn't bear throwing away the gps or selling it for 20 bucks on eBay...

The inlaws think it's cool when we're on a drive and they can see where we are and points of interest, restaurants, stops, etc without always saying, "where are we now?" "How far to...?"

Just a toy for the passengers to play... and you can disable the sound in it so there is no competing voice should they set it to navigate!

Sometimes they want to!! Hehe!

It's like the " poor mans back seat nav " in the Maybach...

The thought was of course to give POI info and current location to the back seat, mostly out of towners, and for the recycling of technology!

To be honest we have a Garmin NUVI and it is far superior to the NAV system in our S and GL. I love using it when we are in a rental. I would never deface my S550 with it but my wife will use it in her GL450 when she road trips. She can't figure out the MB sytem. It's the extra X chromosome thing.

The portable ones of course are great since you can use in rental cars, etc. Overall, GPS is a wonderful and very useful American technology used widely globally.

Remember the old days of paper maps and stopping at a pay phone to get directions?

Thanks! Yes, I think the iPad will take its place as it has a bigger screen...
