The first change is called for at 39000, I think. My MB dlr. told me it'd be $500 or $750, if the tranaxle was also done. I checked some indie folks and tranny specialists and they all said they didn't have the right equipment. Man, I know these things are pricey to maintain and fix, but the numbers given me seem really high for r/r fluids. Are the prices my dlr. gave the norm?

Why is this service not included in one of the Schedule B, C services? I'm no genius, but that would certainly make practical sense.

I changed mine at 51k and did not feel the difference at all. I paid about $500.00 for part and labor.

My local MB dealer said there'd be a $250 charge on top of the $500 cost of changing the transmission fluid, if I wanted the tranaxle fluid changed, as well.

Should this be done? Is it common? Can't see anything but transmision mentioned in the manual.

Thanks.

MY07 service sheet does not list transfer case oil change here is copy of MY08 although MB recommends changing once @ 39000 I recommend changing every 40000 miles thereafter.
