Passanger Mirror doesn't fold out/in

once in a while my mirror doesn't want to open up...... it is very random. When I open the door and the drivers side mirror opens up, the other one doesn't. I have to pull it with my hand gently and move it a little, and then press the button on the doorpanel to open it up. Dealership told me to oil the gear. Can that be any software issue? Control Module?

After about 2 weeks my steering wheel doesn't want to slide up/down... only in and out! what's going on? any advices?? any technical drawings how I can get to the steering wheel gear?

Much appreciated!

I faced the same issue before I put a new kit and hence got a new mirror. From my perspective the dealership is right.

I would not suggest oiling but try WD 40 or and aerosoul lubrication. Should be able to get it from Canadian Tire or walmart.

Hope this helps

I am having the same issue with my passenger mirror...i noticed it often occurs after it rains\car wash....there has to be some shortage.

I'll try the WD40 and let you know..

SAME HERE! Dealer could not fix it - (rather they couldnt find the problem).

Still does. I don't know how to fix this. Its very unsafe! Found myself on the highway after realizing the mirror wouldnt open - I had to wait till an absolute clear lane to get over to the shoulder and open it by my hand. VERY scary to say the least.

I don't have the safety issue, my mirrors are always at the drive position. I've disabled the auto-fold feature from the cluster menu but I don't need it either, perhaps not an option for others.

Would have been nice to see the diagnosis results for a car that has had issues with folding mirrors. If it is just mechanical blockage, no error codes may get stored but if it is a wiring issue (broken wires when the mirror moves every time the car is parked), error codes should appear stored even if not currently active.

wd40 is not a lubricant.

Use the appropriate MB lubricant.

I had the same problem on the driver's side. Used a clear silicon spray lubricant, sprayed behind the mirror and any moving parts that I could get to using the nozzle that came with the can and no more problems.

I think it's a bug in the command software frankly. I think it is based on shutting the car down (and having the windows folded in) with one key and using the other key to start it up next time. Normally I would do a dance of button presses to get it to reset. Are you 100% sure you always use the same key between the last time you shut the car down and the next time you start it up? Remember you can program all the settings into the key so it knows who is about to get into the car. It's the same deal with having the mirror tilt down when you back up, ever had that stop working as well?

My apologies for resurrecting an old thread but my 2008 just started doing this every now and then. Sometimes, the passenger side mirror does not fold out when I unlock and open the drivers door. I can always unfold the mirror by pressing the unfold button on the door panel.

What is the fix for this? Is there a TSB?

Thanks
