Try and read and understand what im saying
You have the harmann kardon soundsystem in your car = there is harmon kardon badges on your door panels... You put a amg bodykit and you have the company who made your bodykit logo on the car. Like wald put a wald logo on, lorinser put a lorinser logo on
But i agree thoose who put the s63/65 v12 logos on thats lame

I know what you're trying to say. You're arguing that at a basic level because the car has a component from one company that it is fine to place a badge on the car for that component on the car. The way I see it here it's like if I put the wheels from an M5 onto a regular 5 series and then put an M badge on the back of the car. I personally think it's ridiculous, it cheapens the meaning of the AMG badge itself. But I guess the AMG badge doesn't mean much to some people anyways...

Seems like standard practice is as follows:
If you have an AMG body kit, wheels, etc., and nothing else, you can badge AMG (ex: S500 on one side and AMG on the other). This is AMG styling.
S65, S63, V12, etc refer to engine and mechanical mods and should be badged if you have them installed.
If you have Brabus wheels and body kit, you can badge Brabus. They have their own letters and numbers to refer to engine and performance mods...

Exactly. There are a bunch of cars running around with RENNtech badges because they have RENNtech wheels or Lorinser badges because they have Lorinser stuff. If AMG didn't want people putting "AMG" on the cars, they wouldn't sell the badge with the body kit.
If you don't like that, take it up with AMG.

First of all, if Mercedes indeed intended to use the AMG badge for any car with the Sport package, they would have done that from the get go. Seeing how the package is not even called "AMG" since MY2010, that was not their understanding at all. An AMG *engineered* car goes way beyond a couple of plastic parts; if you were to attach a badge for every manufacturer which contributed parts to the car, you would quickly run out of space.
To those who claim that they attach the badge "for themselves," I would ask how often they run behind their cars admiring the insignia. Quite clearly, this is something that is done to show the others. While there is nothing wrong with showing off (it is in human nature, after all), at least have the courage to openly admit it.

Who really cares?
I'll badge my car a ferrari F40 if I feel like it.
The guy paid for the car, he can do whatever the hell he wants.
It has absolutely ZERO effect on anyone else's life.
If you don't like it, laugh to yourself and get over it.

AMG is 75% a clever marketing gimmick. Yes, it's a nice bit of tuning, don't get me wrong. The cars are undoubtedly great.
But now that AMG is wholly owned by Mercedes it's just a way of differentiating models in their lineup and allowing self-selected price discrimination.
All companies of all types do it - since they are not allowed by law to price discriminate based on the wealth of a given customer, they launch a "premium" line of their products and let the wealthier customers self discriminate and self differentiate.
Some people here buy into this more than others. I'm sure Mercedes are very happy that there are people out there willing to fight for their premium badge and give Mercedes their money in the process.

Its all just posturing. You dont see anyone busting someone elses ***** because they put 2010 style rims on a not-a-2010 car.
IF MB WANTED YOU TO HAVE THOSE RIMS, THEY WOULD HAVE GIVEN THEM TO YOU!!! HOW DARE YOU POSE LIKE YOU HAVE A 2010!!!
Same thing, so get over yourselves please and make this a pleasant experience for all MB forum users before a moderator needs to get involved.

First I'm happy that the op got his question figured out
I agree with both sides of the discussion, and all I have to say is that if you put a RUF bodykit on a Porsche, it doesn't make it a RUF.
My opinion is that Mercedes / AMG decided to put on AMG badges on the body kits instead of engraving them for this very reason, let the owners decide to leave them on or not.
In the old days, when AMG offered packages for the 190E "baby hammer", the AMG badge was engraved in the front bumper and the rear spoiler. So even if you only had the body kit on, the AMG name would still be there whether you liked it or not.
