Idle Pulley = Winding Sound
Just a quick post to see if anyone has had the winding sound from the idle pulley. I have read that this is a recurring issue for this vehicle.
Anyone know the cost of replacing this part to get rid of the annoying sound and depleted performance?
Thanks,
~BB

There was a service campaign a couple of years ago to replace the idler pulley on all vehicles because of potential to be noisy. Your dealer should have replaced it as part of normal service at no cost to you.
Service Campaign 2008070002 AUG08 – 164, 164.8, 171, 203, 209, 211, 216, 219, 221, 230, and 251 Dealer will replace the existing V-belt upper guide pulley with one that is optimized for noise reduction (guide pulley – part #A272202101905). Approximately 192,941 vehicles affected.

unfortunately my car didn't get the service, and now I am faced with the need for this.. I would love to know if someone got this outside of a warranty or after the fact to see what the cost was.

I got the campaign done today, and it was just as planned $200. He said that several models will encounter this problem, so owners beware.
The most important thing to note, is that if you know the problem ahead of time and you inform them of what you want, they cannot "Stealership" you. To have them diagnose this problem would have easily added another $200 to this service.
