Remote Start

I was at the dealer today and was talkin to my service advisor. MB came out with a remote start.. Its a chip that goes inside the key and takes about 15 minutes to install. Bad thing it costs $1200.00 but is under full warranty from MB. Any suggestions?

It probably is Mid City's starter, I have their starter along with the Viper Smart Start feature. The dealers in Chicago install the Mid City product when they advertise remote starters.

MidcityEngineering and Viper SmartStart can work together without any issues.

All Mercedes whether you have keyless go or not.

Without keyless go after remote starting, in order to move the car you simply have to insert the fob into ignitiong and with keyless go simply push the start button once and you're good to go!!

I would love to install the remote starter for a 2013. I like the idea of using the factory key. All I can find are dealer/vendor installed options. Does anyone know if self- or self-selected vendor (i.e., a shop I prefer to work with that is not an authorized dealer) is an option?

Thanks.

Yep. I'm a dealer for midcity and can get you one. Install is simple, plug & play. Shoot me an email and I'll try to help.

Cool. The other thing I like is the add-on drone app, which lets you start it from any mobile device.

I have the midcity engineering starter and drone mobile in mine. I ordered it from ebay. Its easy to install as long as you know how to take the wood trim off of the dash. Theres videos on youtube on how to do it. Theres just one tricky part to install in cars with keyless go and that is theres a CAN bus cable that needs to be connected to the keyless entry module. The CAN bus block is under the drivers seat. It has to be routed from under the seat to the remote start module.

It is a simple plug and play you can use your factory remote or you can wire it up with a Compustar system which is by far better than Vipers system. When you add the Compustars system to the plug and play remote start system, you just need to wire ground, battery hot, and ignition. Rest is a 4 wire plug and play data plug. I've done these installs.
