Hey, congrats. The car looks really nice from the pictures, and the black is classy. I'm really happy you have the Sport package - it really makes a big difference/
Talk about classy, I noticed your Stainless Steel / Platinum Rolex Yachtmaster II as well - you dog you!!! Next thing you have to do is get the IWC clock from the AMG line in your dash!
Are the rims from the S63 like someone said, or is there a different story to them? I presume they're 19's, and they look polished / chromed, is that correct? I don't think they're painted. What's the history on those rims?

Also, I'm assuming it is RWD, not 4Matic, correct? Is this your daily driver, or do you have another car to tackle inclement weather? I ask because my S550 is my daily, with a set of winter rims and snow tires in addition to 4Matic. The S550 gets to do the work while the M5 sits in the garage in storage while the weather sucks.

Congrats man - I've gotta do a proper photo session with my 2010...

good eyes on the SS/Plat YachtMaster!! ha..ha...

it is actually 20" and you are right, it is chromed.
I just found out that you cannot refinish a chrome wheel. In retrospect, I would just keep it as original paint so that I can refinish the wheel to fix curb rash / scratches.

honestly, IMO, the ride is a bit firm for me and I leave the suspension setting to "C". Maybe because I am used to 18" on my S430.
The 20" Pirelli PZero is not as quiet. I am thinking Continental DWS for the next one, we'll see if it reduces the road noise.

btw, I did paint the front caliper cover to black.
It was white with rusty bolts. The 20" wheels accentuate the rusty bolts with dirty white caliper cover. It drove me nuts; so I painted it black.

yep, you are right, it is RWD.
I live in Portland and we get snow like 5 days in a year. So, no winter tire for me.

take pic of your S class together with the M5. It is a awesome collection

thanks hyperion667!
it was freshly clay-bar'ed and waxed with (McGwire NXT)
I spent like 3 hours (with corona break) ... my wife thinks I am crazy

fyi, there are swirls.
Since it is a ceramic-based paint (paint code has "C" prefix in the driver door jam) and I dont know how to use machine buffer properly ... I just left the swirls there.

M105/205 would take them right out. No need to use the machine (it's more work by hand, but less chance of screwing something up).

Dude, sorry it won't be LV. Probably a black Coach, Jimmy Choo, Dooney & Bourke, Michael Kors or Fendi this time. Oh, I'm sorry don't want to give the Wifie any Ideas like mine has already...

If you ever want to chat about watches, let me know. I have a Rolex addiction.
I have to confess I'd agree with you about the painted rim versus the chromed one. Don't get me wrong, your car is very sharp , and the chrome wheels make it appear different from the rest of the herd. But, (and I've never had chrome rims), I really like the appearance of a painted rims, not to mention the easier care and maintenance of which you speak.
As far as your ride-quality goes, I'll give my $0.02 as another driver with 20's. My ride is certainly a little bit more rigid than I imagine it would be with smaller rims, but it's not so noticable that I ever really regret it because the pros outweigh the cons. The roads are pretty good around here, with the occasional severe expansion joint or pot hole. So, no real complaints from me - the ride remains true S-Class caliber. I have a set of 18's for the winter, and they create a smoother ride but with more road noise (because of the snow tires). Plus, the rims are so ugly (S600 rims).
On the subject of tires, maybe it might be worthwhile to consider a winter set because you don't have 4Matic. If so, then consider the Continental DW series for the summer - that will be my next tire purchase. The whole DW-Series is supposed to be really quiet. But, with the amount of snow you say you get, it probably won't be worth the trouble. As I've said before, a 4Matic S550 with snow tires can drive through anything, anywhere, at any time. At least mine can!

Hoping to take some pics of the cars together this weekend, as the weather will be improving. In the meantime, here they are separate! Not trying to hijack your thread or anything.

My S550 just came back from my detail guy about 10 days ago. So, it is in pretty decent shape, but it has rained. This picture was taken at the delivery in Oct. Designo Graphite is yummy.

Cars looking good.

As for trying out the Conti DWS, good tire. They flat spot with the quickness. Been there, delt with it, quite annoying.

Super hot looking S550! Love the rims...in fact you've just inspired me to pick up a set of those rims albeit not in chrome, rather painted. Still debating stepping up to 20's for the look or sticking with 19's for the ride. Anyways congrats!
