Why doesn't my passenger side mirror point down in reverse?

On my w211 I have to make sure i have the switch set to passenger and set the mirror to move in the convenient option.

Did the same thing here and no go?

You have to go to the vehicle menu in the command unit and scroll through to find the tab that reads: lower mirrors in reverse.

Wouldn't the mirror need to be adjusted for the lowered level too? The point being that the mirror does not lower by a fixed angle relative to the current setting but to the point the driver likes (which has to be told to the car).

I did not remember even the cluster menu, I have switched this off as I hardly ever park next to a curb. The user manual would explain how the level is adjusted.

No, on all of my cars that have this feature, the mirror goes down to a fixed location based on the current setting.

i'm pretty sure you have to adjust it first to where you want it to tilt unless they changed it. read the manual if you have it. if not i'm sure there is one online here.
If i'm not mistaken, you need to shift to R (reverse, not race)* put the switch to the passanger mirror and adjust it to what you want. Next time it will go down to that point by it self..

* Make sure to keep your foot on the brake

If so, it would be the first, my 5 series, TL and W211 all did not need it.

That's a question I have listed on my list for my SA tomorrow when I drop the car off. I'll let you know.

You do not have to save the setting if someone else has done it already. This is what the W211 manual explains:

I think you are just getting older, meaning wiser.

This is for the W221:
http://www4.mercedes-benz.com/manual...1f19150582bd83

Parking position for the exterior mirror on the front-passenger side

Setting and storing the parking position

You can position the front-passenger side exterior mirror in such a way that you can see the rear wheel on that side as soon as you engage reverse gear. You can store this position.

Make sure that the vehicle is stationary and that the key is in position 2 in the ignition lock.

Press button for the exterior mirror on the front-passenger side.

Engage reverse gear.

The exterior mirror on the front-passenger side moves to the preset parking position.

Use adjustment button to adjust the exterior mirror to a position that allows you to see the rear wheel and the kerb.

The parking position is stored.

Make sure the mirror button for the passenger side is pushed when you put the car in reverse.
If the drivers side button is pushed or the button is resting in the middle it will not work

Yes, you do need to adjust and store the mirror position first. The pass side mirror switch also should be selected for the mirror to tilt.

And another question, I see the post is old but hopefully, you guys can have the answer, how do you "reset" back to the default setting? I don't want that feature anymore and would like the mirror to not point down while reversing.

Thanks.

Thanks, I see that just select the driver's mirror will make it be as before.

I think you may have the wrong window switch.

Window switch that is from 2006 and older cars that share the same switch layout you have to go into the menu to activate this feature.
2007 and newer the programming is in the drivers windows. The caveat is LH or RH drive
