2008 S550 -> 2011 S63 conversion? possible...?

Hey guys.
I'm trying to figure out wheather it's possible to upgrade front & rear bumper from S63/S65 into 2008 S550. What are the problems I should expect ... and/or is it even possible. Thanks for your input.

i did mines already with no problems. the only thing you need to do is tap them LED wires to +/- to a switch to the battery so you can turn it on/off and change out the energy absorber to an 2011 s63 and buy the bumper bracing. the link below is all the parts i bought to do the facelift 2011 s63 conversion.

(to make it fit for the front end conversion, you have to buy them extra parts # below.)

Please let us know if it's a direct plug and play! I want to get this done also and by the way was the S63 exhaust a direct bolt on as well? Thx!

The headlights are not plug and play. There's a company out there that is selling a wire harness for a plug and play installation? There's a member here that already done the exhaust system so you can ask him. I think it's (Bensito)?

It's possible. Mine is 85% completed but WELL OVER budget from the small items and time spent cross referencing parts.

It turned out that replacing the bumper covers, grills, and diffuser were not enough to complete as posted on Ebay. Everything from bumper bracing, mounts, to wheel well covers covers also needed to be replaced due to different contour of new bumpers.

As for the headlight wiring adapter and pre-programmed SAM I purchased from Bekker Imports. Provided VIN and took about 3 weeks.

As for mirrors I purchased from parts.com, complete assembly not available, piece parts only.

Will post pictures of rear once quarter panel is refinished and exhaust is mounted.

If you dont mind me asking, how much did it cost you to do the front of the car, including everything, roughly

I have a '07 S600. My front bumper has Distronic and Parktronic. My sensors are hidden inside the bumper. I have noticed on all the 2010-11 conversions, that ll the S63/S65 bumpers have the sensors on the outside where they are visible.
Does my Parktronic harness plug into this new bumper, or do I have to remove all my sensors and fit them on the new bumper ? Any help would be much appreciated.

This was a decision by Mercedes to no longer use only the Distronic radar for parking sensors. Sounds like you have Distronic Plus with Park Assist, while Parktronic uses the visible acoustic sensors. Personally, I don't like the bullethole look at all, but the multiple sensors are more sensitive at closer range, not sure if there were any frequency band issues or other uses for the sensors that made them bring the bulletholes back for 2010.

In your case, you should buy the bumpers without the holes in them. Or, a body shop should be able to fill them in during painting since the bumpers with holes are cheaper, you might save money doing that instead.

You will, however, need the Distronic grille, which is not the one sold on the listing above, but the seller should have it available also.

If you don't want to replace all the little bits along with the bumper, go with the 2010 S550 AMG bumpers. Much less involved....I'm still looking for more direct instruction on hooking up the LED DRLs only without the 2010 headlights or modules....I've also heard some people were able to wire a multi-switch that turns off the LEDs when the headlight signal is activated, but no further details.
