2007 S550 or 06 S65??
I posted this in the S65 forum as well.
What's the better overall option? Both cars have approx 40,000 miles
Both have warranty and priced similar. I know the 550 will continue to
drop quite a bit while I don't see the 65 dropping much below $30,000
Over the next 3/4 years.
I will use as daily driver and around 8,000 miles per year.

'10 S550 4Matic, '06 BMW M5
I think it depends upon where you live. If you ever get snow, you'll be happy if you pick up a 4Matic S550. If you don't get snow, then the S65 would be a nice pick for a daily driver, you could certainly do a lot worse.
However, I personally would LOVE to DATE an S65, but not be married to one. That means that I'd love to have one as a plaything, but not as my daily ride. That's why I love the relationships I have with my M5 (summer, sunny weather only) and my S550V4 (everything else I can throw at it).
Do you have other cars to choose from that might sub for the S65 if you don't want to drive it? I'm guessing if you're only logging 8k miles a year that you have other choices.

what are you looking for from it?
If you want a fast car, no brainer.
If you want a luxurious interior, I'd also argue no brainer due to the extra leather inside the 65.
If you want the newest gadgets and looks, and relatively inexpensive maintenance, get the 550.

I'm definitely leaning towards the S65. For the same price as the 550 it's money better spent with having a warranty on top of it for 2.more years in the long run.

I really like the styling and upgrades the W221 has over the last gen....but it's still an S65! I put up to 25,000 miles a year and '07 or above was a minimum for me, so I went with S550 because I didn't want new brakes and tires every few months ($800+ per rotor, and no 20" tires for me on these Northeast roads), and little opportunity and place to take advantage of all the S65 has to offer.
But only 8,000 miles a year, and you seem already kinda into being able to fully utilize 600HP, I get the sense the S65 is more the car for you.

In a few years the 550 will change and be just another S class. I will say, you really can't go wrong with either choice but the 65 is much rarer and will hold better value from this point on if both cars are currently priced the same.

S65. It's hard to go back to a non-amg benz after you get an AMG because you will feel like the car has been castrated...

The cars are very similar tech wise and i would give the 550 the advantage on styling but that's subjective and many would disagree. The performance and power of the 65 make it a clear winner if that's what your looking for.
