Deal or no deal ;)

Guys I'm in a hunt for a 08 S550 with P3 but that includes the ventilated seats in the back as well... I've found two so far one with warranty until 12/11 and with 33k miles for $50k and the other has 55k miles no warranty for $45k

Now the kicker is that both have clean titles but both shows one accident on carfax ........ It wasn't as bad to covert it to salvage but its there...

I can't find any other with what I want within my price range ( can do up to $53k )

What u guys think???

1st choice would be accident free
2nd would be lower mileage

In this case if this is all you can find & do not want to wait then go with car #1 w/33k miles and warranty. But if you can, be patient & keep looking. Good luck.

It depends sometimes the accident can be minor and if its a reputable shop/insurance you have new parts on the car instead of older ones. The work some shops do are incredible.

Good luck with purchase.

just curious, do they both have the sports package?

But the 5k difference easily justify the lower mileage and the 3 months warranty. The nice thing about the factory warranty that "almost" anything that breaks will be replace. Little things like trim pieces counts too. Basically buys you a few months to go over the car and find the little flaw that you didn't catch.

22k miles is like a 18 months of driving on average, in two years your car will only reach around 55k miles vs 75k miles. get my drift?

Between cars
Here is some good advice about inspecting the car - sometimes used cars will be reported as being accident free when in fact they have just had a very convincing repair job.

It all depends on the repair shop, and sometimes, people have told me that if the repair is paid in "cash," there is no report.

With Carfax, it is never 100% certain. With these two cars, how many owners have they had? If they are one-owner cars, then you wouldn't be out of your mind to ask the dealer to check as to the extent of the repairs. Sometimes, if they're performed by MB, there is even a record in the Service History.

If you can't wait, I'd go with the lower mileage vehicle if they were equal. If you can wait, then wait. You won't be disappointed (even though Carfax isn't 100% accurate all the time).

Good luck.

Don't worry about what the report says, how did the car drive? get a close inspection for repair work. If it's a quality repair, you won't be able to tell the repair. As long as the car drives straight and true I wouldn't be concern. Seeing how much people like to jack up the repairs on this car, a fender bender would be in the thousands which would be reported. As many has mentioned, the so called accident free title cars might be has been in worst accidents. So go with what you think of the car and not what carfax tells you.

Thanks for the replies,
Both of them have the sport pack as well
I drove the high mileage yesterday ( it's 6 miles away compared to 800 miles away for the other one) and it drove straight .. Carfax says accident on left front and I couldn't tell where was it .... They discount it 1200 for me So I'm looking at otd price $48000 vs the $53400 for the other one

I'm just concerned about no warranty and being on my own for repairs

Do a search on this forum for warranty companies. Members here have had plenty of great experience with a 3rd party warranty. Buyer beware, do your homework man.

As for me personally, I will never have an S Class outside of the MB warranty, repairs cost a fortune. But, that's just me and there are probably plenty of people who'd disagree with me.

If you could live without the p3 and go with a '08 S550 sport 4matic, i have a perfect one with 39000 miles and custom 20" wheels and Perrilli tires. Also has the AMG 19" wheels with Blizzzak winter tires mounted...all of this for a great price.
