The AAR links are incredible. VERY easy to pop off with your fingers, to adjust, but still feels very secure to the ball joint when mounted. Had rubbing, Rear fender tabs shaved, might need to raise the rear a bit...

I think the problem with the rear rubbing could be an offsetting issue? Because your car is no near lower than mine, and your rear tire diameter is also smaller? Double check with the shop where you got the wheels from and make sure.

Phat, look at my other post with the problem I'm having. I'm low bro... The fender falls below the tire tread in the rear..

silkz, How do I roll the fenders? What's involved? Is that a DIY kinda job, or done at a shop?

ramos,

First of all congrads...it looks GREAT! Way better then stock! I couldn't believe what a difference a drop could do to appearance to your car.

About rolling fenders I did it a while ago to my honda civic when I used to be a rice boy.

DISCLAIMER:
I never did this to my s class so if you plan on doing this, proceed with caution.

Take baseball bat and apply pressure from the inside (taking the wheel off of course). Ensure that you don't try to do further damage to your body..do it slowly and not vigorously.

Good luck with the ride. How does it ride now with the AAR?

Ramos: Here's a picture of mine getting the rear fenders rolled. I had it done by a local bodyshop.

Ordered the markers last week.. Just waiting for them to get here.. As far as the fender rolling.. If that's what's involved to "roll" the fender, Then I'd have to say.. "HELL to the No...." Eff Dat!.. No Roll for me... I'd rather raise it a little more.

With the storm & all, I haven't really had a chance to ride around enough to feel a difference. I only had one real drive since the drop, & since it was rubbing, I came right back, turned those rear links 2 spins & knocked those tabs off with the dremel.

I can tell you this, Before the drop, The front end gap was about .75" higher than the rear... It was bouncy as hell... I hope the drop stiffens things back up.

The fender rolling is not a big job. They did both sides for me in prox 30 min. No damages to the car. They heat it to take care of the paint and roll the tool back and forward untill the fender has the right position. No more rubbing

Toby, That looks scary as $h!t .. I donno fellas.. There's a body shop around me, that works exclusively on benz.. I'll ask them about it tomorrow.. If they're cool with it, I'll have them do it.

Looks very nice although like phatisfy said offset is a big deal when lowering. My advise is either get expensive rims that will have right offset or get the cheaper one with wrong offset+fender roll. Or like, when purchasing rims try to find the same rims but made for gl or ml which will have higher offset and which later on can be easile corrected with spacers.

Thanks Arlen. I figured out what my problem was.. to make a long story short, I started off low..., It rubbed, so I trimmed the tabs. I intended to raise it a little, but must have mistakingly lowered the beotch even more, (thinking I was raising it, I dropped it another 1/2") . Anyway.. I pulled the rear link off, started from scratch & baddabing.. I'm good. Took about 5 minutes.

I got low fever now though.. I wanna keep going lower.. I'll roll the fenders first, & make more adjustments after, (Front & Rear).

"Low fever" hahaha i have the same thing, but its more like "low flu", you know that evil laugh that u have everytime you go lil lower. I kept going low with my s430 until my front bumper decided to separate with me at gas station entrance. Now i have deja vu thing with s550 hehe. Anyways congrats on ur drop glad everything worked out for you.

Ramos, it's funny how before this all started, you had thoughts of just keeping it stock with 20's or 22's but others persuaded you (including me). I'm glad that you lowered it, it looks so much better..welcome to the lowrider club lol

Jade, I can now speak on the ride quality.. IMO.. it now rides like it did when I had stock 18's & no drop. For whatever reason, when I put the 21's on with no drop, it was bouncy as hell.. Felt almost unstable.. With drop, I got that nice, stiff, comfortable feel back.. It's perfect.. I'm itching to lower the front a little more, but I'm gonna leave it for now.. Right now my floor to fender heights are 26 ½ Front, 27 ¼ Rear.

Also; Spoke to the shop about fender roll.. They said they can do it, but wont be liable for paint cracking.. CYA answer that I expected. Whatever.. I have to rub at all, so I'm good for now... Till I drop it some more..
