S550 AMG Facelift 2010 DRL's LED

This is a 2007 s550 with FACELIFT...For Resale purposes, I chose to go AMG 2010 body look. Still need side skirts. Used the fog lamp wires to control the DRL's LED. Used a 50 watt 6 ohm Load resistor. A Must Do! otherwise your LED will flicker and act erratic. I used the 22" AMG style OEM replica wheels. Gott'em off eBay. Ads more bulk. I could of used 20's, but they might of looked small....I used OEM part's so, I wouldn't have fitment issues. The Mirrors, I got off eBay as well. You actually can find a lot of your parts on eBay. I installed the bumpers. actually quite easy. Had a paint shop paint them for me. You will need to replace the front wheel well inserts, energy absorber and plastic frame. A few hundred bucks. Save thousands and do it yourself. I'm not a technician, but its really straight forward. Read a lot of post for extra help.http://youtu.be/kQAEpmuFtG4, S550 AMG Facelift 2010 DRL's LED-front2.jpg, S550 AMG Facelift 2010 DRL's LED-front1.jpg, S550 AMG Facelift 2010 DRL's LED-back2.jpg, S550 AMG Facelift 2010 DRL's LED-side.jpg,

Congrads! It looks great.

I have a few questions (sorry for all the questions).

- Your entire exhaust was changed or you just added tips to your stock exhaust?

- Did you do the wiring of the fog lights yourself? If so stupid question did you splice the wires to connect them? I want to do the same but hate to cut factory wires.

- So when you turn on the fogs only you're turning your light switch to just turn on the fogs only right? Just want to clarify

- would you mind sharing your budget and where you got them?

- and last which ebay merchant you got the mirrors from.

Looks really good! thanks.

Did not change the muffler, just cut the tail pipes shorter. They curve down so the tips wouldn't fit unless you cut. Also the tips on the AMG/ sport don't attach to the muffler they bolt on to the bumper cover brackets underneath. The LED, DRL's are attached to the wires that originally connected to the fog lamps. Yes i cut them, cause I would never convert back to the original. I wired them, and it was very easy. I soldiered wires to the connectors on the LEDs/ DRL's. That was the only hard part, cause the hole was small.

THE MIRRORS: $150.00
http://www.ebay.com/itm/160462404188...ht_3724wt_1173

THE FRONT BUMPER COVER: On eBay. They're is a guy selling OEM parts. He'll give you a better deal if you purchase off of eBay using Paypal.
$1300.00 Complete with lights & Grille's

FRONT Grille: $399 on eBay but, they have others for 150.00 on ebay.

Rear Bumper: $1500.00 With Tail Tips

50 watt 6 ohm Load Resisters : $ 16.00 on eBay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/50-Watt-6-oh...ht_5428wt_1173

22" Wheels: $900 on eBay! Tires another $500.

Auto Paint Service: $300.00

Extras: Front wheel Liners 100.00 for Both sides, Front Bumper absorbers 120.00

Looking for the side skirts on eBay!.. Will Post !

Also, I used the AMG badge, because It looked empty on that side. Kind of generic but, oh well...

I also found that you could also connect the LED DRLS to the side marker lights. You can tap into them. The plus is, you don't have to use 50watt resistors. The minus is you can't turn them on or off separately. They come on only when the lights are on.

hi Rudy, quick question, do the led fogs stay on at one brightness? I know for the factory ones's when you have the fogs on only, it's very bright but when you put on your lights and the fogs, the fogs get dim.

Thanks.

Yes, they stay constant. I tapped the wires into the side markers instead. The 50 watt resistors got really hot, so I removed them from the fogs.G

If you tap into the side market wires they don't get hot. And they stay at on constant light output.

Thanks Rudy. And there are no error codes using the side markers? So when with that setup you can just turn on the fogs only when you turn on the parking lights only..just want to confirm..thanks

When you use the side markers, I just have the switch set to auto. So they come on whenever the lights turn on. I don't get any error codes cause, I just tapped into the side marker wires. The bulbs are still in the side markers and are active.

Also set up that way the LEDs come on with the parking lamps and side marker lights. Actually a lot easier to do that way. You can do it the fog lamp way, you just need to mount the resistors to a smart place. They get extremely hot. So hot I got nervous about the heat. During the summer, something might catch fire. So, I changed the connection to avoid the resistors all together. I'm sure if you use a larger resistor like a 100 watt you may avoid heat issues. You have to remember the fog lights are 55watts. So you cars computer needs to see that connection. Otherwise it will think you have a blown out light and warn you that the lamp is out. Goodluck.

Leave it empty. I haven't had a light error come up. I think part of that's, because I don't use the fogs at all. My lights are set on auto. So the led Drls come on with the regular running lights and the side marker lights.

cool. personally i am still not sure if your fogs / side markers light are out whether that will throw a code on your dash or not. most cars i have seen, at the most it's the low beam throwing a code.

but yes, using resistor is a big risk all the time because they get so hot, it's a lot of current to the fogs for 55w. the side makers they are much lower wattage and current so it's probably much better for powering the LEDs

Does hooking up the LEDs to the parking lights degrade the brightness?

Thanks.

What about the tail lights? are you using resistors for them to avoid the massage?

Also the taillights come oem. They don't need anything tools them work. Just plug n play. I you needed resistors for all the bulbs you tried to replace with LEDs. The car probly would burn down. Lol! Those resistors get super hot.
