Anyone know if I can get the original MY07 install disc or DVD anywhere
I do not know what to do?

There is a telematics software update that is needed for early vehicles to use more recent NAV DVDs. Unfortunately, many dealers are unfamiliar with this. Contact other dealers and find one who is familiar with the telematics update. A fair price for the update would be one hour of labor.

NTG3 V.13 Update failed on 2007 S550
I purchased the 2014 navigation update for my 2007 S550. Problems with the update have now left my entire navigational system useless. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a problem.
These are the details. I purchased the 2014 Navigation DVD for COMMAND from the dealership. They double checked to make sure I could install it without involving the service technician. As the update was running, the power was interrupted and the update aborted. I re-inserted the disc & started the 40 (plus) minute update again. Didn't work. I did it a couple of more times. I finally got the map showing on the screen and it guided me to an address I input. However, after the car was turned off for about 5 minutes or more, the navigation would not come on. Instead it will display "Loading Navigation" but never go any further.
I took it to the dealership. They, of course, said it was my problem since I allowed the original update effort to abort. (I'm too honest!) I'll skip the part where they quote me repair costs and make no promises & suggest I probably need a new hard drive costing thousands!
I finally found a dealership technician to help me. They have run into loading problems with the 2014 disc and were willing to help me. They got the update loaded, the nav map worked - - until the car was turned off for about 5 min. or more. Then it went back to the same message "Loading Navigation".
I am convinced there are "bugs" in the 2014 update. They have had several with problems so far. And that is 1 dealership. I feel that more people will have trouble and finally a fix will be developed. Till then, let me know if it is just my car or not.
My car has been treated like my baby! It has less than 40,000 miles and I keep it as perfect as I can - which was why I bought the 2014 nav update that I don't need since I have an I-phone! I just wanted it kept up-to-date.
P.S. Anyone want the 2014 nav. update cheap???? LOL

I had the exact same problem. The update failed and the message was that the software could not be loaded after 40 minutes and approaching 90% complete on the progress bar. I tried 3 more times. Each time same message saying to refer to Operating Manual. I took it to the dealer, they did not know what the problem was and confirmed that this version of the software should work in a 2007 S550. Another bizarre outcome is that my external temperature gauge says it is 185 degrees farenheit outside now and it is actually 55 degrees. I am very concerned that this failed update has really screwed some other things up. I found on this thread that others have had this fixed by getting the Telematics updated along with DAS at a Dealer. I will try that and report back.

That caused the problem with the temp gauge and the lights not working. The second was that I was using a pirated copy of the map software even though it had Mercedes logos on it. The cost of the new SAM module was $500 plus labor, the cost of the new map software was $275 plus labor. Bottom line, it was a $1,200 surprise. The new Birds eye software view is nice and the ability to see traffic is also nice. I am not sure it was worth the extra money...it may take a few years to get my money's worth out of that investment. They said my telematics system did not need to be updated.

For S-class model years 2007-2009, you get "free" (pre-paid with the cost of the car) traffic updates in many major cities listed here:

It takes 5-10 minutes for the traffic data to populate on the nav screen, but it's still handy for deciding which road to take if you have two+ often-congested choices during your commute. For 2007 year cars, this traffic display requires the updated telematics software that is already on 2008-2009 cars. Starting with model year 2010, I think you have to pay a monthly fee to XM to get the traffic updates. I believe it's around $4/mo, for traffic alone or you can bundle. Anyway, free traffic updates is one of the nice things about the 2007-2009 years vs. the newer models

After the long process of trying a burned Nav disc and not having the command update - I have finally completed my mission.
3 weeks ago I get the update via my local dealer for $80 and then one gracious member loaned me a 2014 DVD Nav update disc. The two step upgrade is like having a new benz. I can't wait to test it out on a long road trip.

hi, I'm new to this and i just got a 2012 s550 but it has a 2010 cd command unit in the car. when i turn it on the navigation screen would say please insert navigation update software. can anyone help me with the latest version for this navigation software?

Version 15, the final version for 2015/2016, is out. There will be no more DVD map updates after that. Send me a private message, and I can share more information on how to obtain this latest update for model year 2007-2009 S-class and CL-class Mercedes Benz cars.

I think before you insert Updated DVD map , you must update COMAND Telematics..
I have MUX-C3 that able to access to Control Unit but I don't have DVD Telematics or Flash file to update it...

I've heard reliable reports that you can do the maps update and then the telematics update (for 2007 model year cars to the 2008-2009 version of telematics) and it won't matter. In other words, you can update the maps and then the telematics, or you can update the telematics and then the maps.
Unfortunately, I believe the telematics update can only be done by a dealer. It should be easy for them, but they have to let it run for a few hours, so it can cost around $180 (sometimes less) in labor. It's a nice upgrade, however, and is a relatively cheap service for these cars I love the free traffic updates that even the newer cars don't get without a monthly subscription fee.

Maybe one of the dealers online would discount it, is there an mb part # listed?
I tried searching for T1000-23920 on an mb parts website but it's not found.
