Telematics update cd for my 2007 s550
I've heard reliable reports that you can do the maps update and then the telematics update (for 2007 model year cars to the 2008-2009 version of telematics) and it won't matter. In other words, you can update the maps and then the telematics, or you can update the telematics and then the maps.
Unfortunately, I believe the telematics update can only be done by a dealer. It should be easy for them, but they have to let it run for a few hours, so it can cost around $180 (sometimes less) in labor. It's a nice upgrade, however, and is a relatively cheap service for these cars I love the free traffic updates that even the newer cars don't get without a monthly subscription fee.
I have detailed instructions and service documents to help your dealer get the telematics update for 2007 cars. PM me your email address and I can share.

Map upgrade self-install can be done outside of telematics update for 2007-09 for S class at least. Done it myself to test it because there is quite a bit of bad info out there. It takes around 45 minutes to load by my guess. Either take a long a road trip or have a battery tender cranking at 20-30 amps during the process.
The telematics update is the best bang for the buck thing you can do.
Actual programming/firmware update for the telematics is around 30 minutes while it does its thing. Now setting up Xentry/DAS to connect and get to that point ramps it up to an hour. Nothing real magical about it, DAS will tell you the exact CD part number you need (The disc is a CD, not a DVD) that you load in slot 1 if you have a changer. Then off it goes, updates a ton of separate modules in the process. Does a little bar graph display on the main screen in the dash of the progress and what module it is doing.
As for finding the iso telematic image to use with your C3/C4...basically the site is infamous and requires a $10 donation.

how/where do I dl the file? The last time I did this was for my Acura (Pioneer unit). I put the file on a little chip and it was easy. Is this the same process?

Today I installed the 2015-2016 map update v14, took about 40 minutes. Popped the DVD in and when the update started went for a drive.

One important thing for people searching for this information is that a telematics upgrade does try its best to do online programming. As other have mentioned, there are alternative ways to do it "offline" as there are no flash files that need to be downloaded. You will need a copy of the Telematics CD in the DVD-Changer and do a Control Module Programming on the COMAND in DAS. This is slightly confusing as it updates the firmware on virtually every device on the MOST bus.- SDARS, DVD Changer, COMAND itself, H/K modules, and after every module is complete it will tell you to remove the CD from the DVD Changer. DO NOT DO THIS. It will prompt this after every module update, but it actually is going to start updating the next module and needs the disc in the changer to do so. There will be a very clear message on the COMAND display when it is complete.
DVD-Audio discs should be playable on the 2007 original Telematics software - when you insert a disc, you should see an MLP logo appear while it is reading a CD/DVD. After the Telematics update, you will get updated features in the Navigation functions, and VIDEO will appear next to SYSTEM at the top menu, and allow DVD video discs to be played back while the vehicle is in Park. When taken out of Park, the display blanks with a message stating that the picture is no longer being displayed to prevent driver distraction.
Map updates do take a while to complete, and as a previous poster said, it is probably easier unless you have a well equipped shop, to start the Navigation update and just go for a drive, not shutting the car off until it finishes.
Unfortunately, the 2007-2009 COMAND Map discs are rampant for piracy, so there is little incentive to continue to produce them and the last one has been produced and there will be no additional updates. I think the solution to this is for people to purchase these discs and it will entice the mapping companies to continue producing updates. The DVDs cannot easily be copied due to the non-standard writing method that a PC DVD writer is not capable of, but they are loaned our multiple times and many cars are update using one disc. I like to save money as much as the next person, but this is detrimental to the future of the navigation system of the early W221s.

The 'update' rominl refers to is a software push, has to be done by the dealer. Some forum members have had success in getting the dealer to do it for free, some have paid a small fee for it. There is a dealer bulletin that advises doing the update under warranty (if you still are...) to resolve a series of issues like Telematics freezing, etc.

Most battery chargers are not capable of sustaining an output of 30amps,
Dealerships commonly use CTEK similar to this... http://smartercharger.com/products/b...ulti-us-25000/

Can anyone with an NTG 3.0 V15 disc comment on improvements they have noticed over prior map versions?

Version 14.0
Purchased April 24, 2015
Map Data December 18, 2013
Version 15.0
Purchased January 28th, 2016
Map Data March 20, 2015
If they continued to make DVDs and sold them for about $25 instead of $250, people would probably buy more and not bother with sharing, etc. For $250 people will just use their phone/tablet for updated maps or "suffer" with old data.

Depends on road construction in your area. V14 was them being lazy and selling stale data. V15 (final release) is somewhat old now but closer to the sale date and about 1.25 years newer than V14. If you are looking for new roads from the last two years, you won't find them.

Nevermind. I got the telematics disk. Ordered with MB Part Express on July 7th and it hasn't been shipped yet. Got a hold of MHH and downloaded the disk. Now trying to figure out how to update COMAND...

I have a 2007 W211 E63, with a build date that occurred in June of 2006, and I would like to update both the telematics as well as the Rear Drivers Side DVD Navigational Map. I do subscribe to XM/Serious? Satellite. I'm in the process of rebuilding the entire rear Suspension after having done a Rear Main Seal. I have the idea of upgrading the Stereo as well and am trying to determine exactly how many speakers are powered individually by the rear Amp. Since I haven't taken apart the door panels to see if the Tweeter is connected to the Woofer via a capacitor (ie-1 channel) or if it is driven individually (ie-2 channel), I will have to figure this out before hooking up my Audison Bit Nove and both Amps! Nevertheless, I would like to get this update to the telematics done before I mess around with the stereo, even though at present I intend on being the least intrusive to the MOST system as possible taking signal from 4 Amplified channels into Audison SPM-1 Line Converter to 6 channel out to the Bit Nove. However, since there is currently a 3 way MOST Adaptor available, I'm toying with the notion of connecting that in the way of the OEM Amp MOST path > AMP > Audison Bit DMI. That way I could get clean signal to the Bit DMI and feed signal to the Audison Bit Nove via Toslink. My concern there is if I did this, would that mean that I would be deleting the ability to use the center channel and surrounds being powered by the OEM Amp?? As most people discussing this only have considered removing the MOST from the AMPs path completely and instead connecting it direct to a Line Converter (Bit DMI-MoBridge DA1 etc.), this obviously would take the OEM out of the picture. However with the 3 way MOST, I'm hoping to keep the OEM Amp Live in 1st position after the Y Adaptor in connected, then the Bit DMI in last position. Theoretically, this would keep the OEM AMP Live and NOT require it being deleted in STAR. But the question is with the the BIT DMI being next in line, would the LACK of return signal from the Bit DMI (that every other component in the MOST System reports instantaneously) keep the MOST System blind to the Bit DMI or would it be detected and cause MOST to Shut Down??
