Just purchased 2008 S550 with 17,500 miles!, need help
Just purchased 2008 S550 with 17,500 miles for $48,500 Good Deal?
California Car, Basketball player moved to Chicago and traded it in for Cadilac SUV. (absolutely flawless)
car is still on eBay listing number 330683911550
Need help on few things:
1. can you say its a good deal?
2. listing says its a Premium 3 but its not, can someone determine if it is P2 or P1? I have a VIN WDDNG71X68A167836
3. For quite some time I was looking to purchase S550 with P2 or P3 and Sport Package and 4Matic, but could not pass this opportunity
4. Any posible retrofits to get some cool things like
-BiXenon
-Night Vision
-Distronics
-Blind Spot
-How about conversion to 4Matic? (that should be interesting)
-Heated steering wheel
-Electronic AC for rear passenger, is it just the center console?
Basically, I just cannot wait to start modding but with nice OEM features.
Please help, any input would be greatly appreciated.
(one more thing, I get the message from the console that it needs service "D")
Andrew
Mileage is nice though!
Dude, all I can say about your list of mods is you're probably going to ring up a tab between 25 and 30 percent of your purchase price. Is that really worth it? Why not drive the car as-is, save the dough, and upgrade later? You have to know that, once the next gen S comes out (W222 or whatever), the prices will drop on used W221 cars. At that time, take your equity and get into a (newer) car with the features you want! They're out there.
Regardless of what you do, good luck, and enjoy the ride.
On the Service Reminder, did yours come with the Owner's Manual? If so, it's all in there. If not, someone can surely help you here. FWIW, I take my 2010 to an Indie mechanic, well-versed with S-Class cars. The last service (forget the letter code) cost me $330 at the indie versus $550 at the dealer. Wow.

As for retrofitting, it's gonna cost you. The 4matic alone is gonna be a pain to do, axles are different and the floor molding i would imagine are also differently shaped
Does anyone know the detailed difference between Premium package 1 and 2 on the 2008 S550?
On change oil just go to any gas station or pepboys, purchase the oil filter (replacement will do as long as it is a reputable brand like mann, Hengst, and this are the original manufacturer who supplies MB) and i will give you the detail on how to reset the cluster manually without the aid of a star computer..

+1 on a good deal.
It will cost you as much as the car it self to add all of those options. Parts are not cheap in addition to labor costs and thats if you find someone who knows Mercedes and is willing to do retrofits. Doing your self, if you can, will make your car inoperable for a long time. the only thing that will take "a few hours" is headlights, everything else you'll have to take the car appart.
Not worth even trying IMHO. Enjoy this wonderful ride as is, it already has plenty. Take the money you are willing to spend on upgrades and put aside for your next ride.
Comparing, my 2007 now has 68,000 miles. It's the Graphite Designo Launch AWD, w/ white interior, phone, keyless, camera, heated, trunk closer etc. I paid $40,600 for it out of Mannheim June 11, 2010. I feel I got a heckuva buy 20 months ago. It's been solid since, accept both Drive Dynamic/multicontour adapters went south (pricey, no extended warr.).
May you have the same luck on what I think is a darn good buy in todays market.
you mean to have the sports package or not? Cause only true AMG are the S63/S65. What you're looking for is one with a sports package.
