2007 S550 Bluetooth Audio
I recently purchased a 2007 S550 with the bluetooth adapter for the phone system. I understand that it does not support stereo and that is the main reason that it will not work for bluetooth audio/music. After searching the forum it doesn't sound like there is a solution for bluetooth audio outside of adding an aux kit and hooking up a bluetooth streaming adapter. Is there another way that we can get this functionality?
What is the most efficient way to stream music from my phone i.e. Spotify/Pandora/local music to my S550 without sacrificing quality?
Thanks

good adapter for streaming audio via Iphone
hey i feel your pain, i was hoping to put it directly through the Bluetooth interface, but no luck.
I have found this Belkin adapter to have very good audio quality and a simple hookup to my 4s:

I've had it for 1/2 a year, no issues at all. Hope that helps!

Should clarify looking for a non-iphone solution.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm looking for something a little bit more integrated with the car.

Thanks for the suggestion but I was under the impression that the MB media interface was for newer S-Class models (2010+) only. I have a 2007 S550.
Has anyone had the media interface installed on an 2007-2009 S550?

Just spent $400+ for aux input, nav update, & telematics update. Now I have birds eye view, video on park, traffic update & aux input. I think it's s pretty good deal.

Are you streaming the audio via Bluetooth or by using some plugged link in the glove compartment? Please provide photos. My car is getting a command update and if can unlock Bluetooth audio streaming I want to make sure I am getting the right update installed... Thanks for your help!

For 2007-2009, the path would be to have the dealer install the IPod/Aux-In kit, then use either the IPod input or the Aux In input to add a BT audio adapter.
2010 + got the Ipod/Aux in standard. You'd just need to add the BT audio adapter.
There are two types of BT adapters. A "dumb" adapter simply receives BT audio from your device and outputs it to a headphone jack. You connect a cable from the jack to the Aux In on the car, pair your phone to the adapter, run power to the adapter (usually a USB) and you're done. They're inexpensive (around $30). I've used the Miccus BluBridge BT Audio Adapter for this purpose and it works well. A couple of drawbacks: No song info, no control via COMAND, device may run out of charge requiring you to manually turn it on depending on how often you use it. Works for any device, Apple or Android.
A "smart" adapter snaps into the car's IPod receptacle and tricks the car into thinking your device is connected directly. You pair your device to it like a dumb adapter, but it draws power from the iPod receptacle. It also supports the transmission of metadata like artist/title info and allows for control via the COMAND and steering wheel buttons.
For 2007-2009 221s the MusicLink ML D100 is a "smart" adapter for cars that have had the iPod/Aux in upgrade, available on EBay.
For 2010-2013 the ViseeO Tune2air WMA1000 does the trick. Available on Amazon for $80. The OEM Mercedes Benz Media Interface Plus is available at the dealer or on Ebay for around $300.
Lastly, for 2007-2009 if you're having the dealer install the IPod/Aux In kit, have them also install a 12v receptacle in the glovebox.

I bought a FlexSmartII from Amazon for 35.00. It connects to my phone with Bluetooth and transmits the music in Stereo to the FM receiver. It also has a charging cord for the phone and I plug it into the rear 12 volt power socket.
Works Great!

Some dealers are reluctant to install the update and will claim it can't be done. You need to locate a dealer who is familiar with the update. Don't coerce a dealer unfamiliar with the update into doing it as there are several parameters that they need to configure to do it properly.
Once the software update is performed, your vehicle will display real-time traffic information on the GPS display provided that you are in one of the major cities where traffic information is transmitted. The data is available most, if not all, major population areas of the country.

2010+ facelift vehicles use satellite traffic data and require a Sirius traffic data subscription.

I just bought the Music Link MD -100 for my 2010 S Class. Unfortunately, although I can get the device to pair with my I Phone 4S, the command screen on the S Class is stuck on activating device when I try to activate music interface. Is there some other way to get this device to work on this car and be able to stream Pandora. It seems others have done so but my command is stuck on activating device.
