All I want to do is connect my IPhone 5S to my 2008 S550 to use it just to talk hands free thru my car. I don't want to use it for music or anything else. I have checked in the two glove boxes and don't have the adapter. Is there any other way instead of using the Mercedes Blue Tooth Adapter for just talking hands free?
you need to look in centre arm rest cubby hole for a working UHI socket if that's there, buy an adaptor (the car needs the wired in phone system for that to be there / work)
if not buy the android system comand screen replacement... no other way as its a proprietary system unique to that era of S class
I have a 2008 Mercedes and just ordered the Blue Tooth adapter and am expecting it on Monday. Once I get the adapter hooked up and I want to be able to talk thru my radio do I need a working voice modular to be able to talk and receive? I do not want to use the voice modular to talk to the command center alone to give commands I just want to use my Iphone over the radio. Thanks
I don't think you are providing enough info about your car...
there was an optional phone system.... 3 different ones between UK and USA none supported BT phone connection that works or music. It does when fitted give a UHI (universal handy interface) socket in the centre cubby hole for telephone only equipment to plug into. If you don't have this you'll get nowhere
Reviving this thread since the right guys are in it. On my 2007 S65 I had the shop enable Aux through the star system in order to do some of the stuff listed here, but Aux still isn't showing in my COMAND system. Should it be showing up if it was properly enabled?
No one here had any ideas. So I bought a ******* and ran it, its a mirroring device. A You can watch a video from the screen.
Apple tv is standard, but I ran chrome cast OR *******s N A V Tools device. Install took a day if you have power supply ready for *******. Placed device behind radio and ran antenna wiring thru light hole in glove compartment. You can also run music thru an aux with a bluetooth adapter that comes with the NT device.

For some reason this board does not like N A V tool but its the only thing that will work on older w221's that does not have AUX already on in comand. (Even if it is ON you still have rig up an connection either to a phone that has an auxillary head phone in jack or thru bluetooth.

Thanks. I assume that is the android TV install that is getting some success around here. For yours, did you have to select the "Aux" function on your COMAND unit to make this work? It essentially piggybacks the COMAND unit as I understand, right?
good question - I was suggesting taking out a Merc head unit and Merc screen and replacing with a 40 dollar phone wouldn't be what I'd do
as for the joyeauto - if you want to connect anything to the car and you don't even have BT phone working you might as well leap in to the twentieth century by adding this
5139961[/url]]Just spent $400+ for aux input, nav update, & telematics update. Now I have birds eye view, video on park, traffic update & aux input. I think it's s pretty good deal.
Does anyone know what this member meant when they said that they got video on park?
Does that mean that they already had a camera installed or had one installed when they paid the $400?
Lastly, if I was able to get my hands on an update disc, what are the steps to initiate the update?
an old world, early, very draconian safety feature MANDATING video playback can only work if the car has the gearbox in the Park position (usually with EPB on too) - seems it was on for the USA, I guess to circumnavigate legal issues with individual state discrepancies in applying a simple law
in europe they all came with the no video if vehicle speed above 8kph
to swap this to less bad (aka european std) go in Xentry and adjust comand settings - there is no off.... for switching on the rear view camera menus you need to get in the instrument cluster menus again using Xentry
