rear caliper and rotor upgrade with pics

got my rear euro spec s600 calipers upgrade from MBenzNL last wk. huge difference in size. perfect fit. used oem drilled rotor from SL55 and pads from SL65. almost the size of the front calipers but 1/2 the weight. people with 20" or above wheels- don't leave home without the upgrade. the hardest part was to find the caliper rebuild kit since i powder coated the calipers. the install was very easy.

Sweeeeeeet. Nice job. Are you going to do front with euro s600 as well? I'm assuming no rim smaller than 18 at this point?

That looks good! How much was it if you don't mind me asking? And do you know how much the fronts are by any chance?

the price went up from 2 yrs ago so i only got the rear. i think the front looks pretty decent already. however, i think most of the cost is shipping the heavy rotors and pads. i think if u only get the calipers, it will be very attractively priced. i looked at other bbk but i don't want to loose ebrake. the price for just the rear caliper is very reasonable. i'm glad i only got the caliper because i was able to upgrade to the sl55 drilled rotors (thanks to iriblue). the is a must if you have large wheels. p.s. i think 18 should still clear because they are still smaller than the front brakes.

the first 2 pic show the front, the 3rd shows the rear. each floor block is 12".

So how much was the total cost for this upgrade? I would just get the calipers and just order the pads, and rotors local from the dealer?

rebuild kit is only if you are going to powder coat it. you could salvage the old one too. i got mine directly from brembo in ca. shipping cost as much as the parts. use
http://www.harborfreight.com/hand-to...set-66836.html

to pry off the old dust shield. be careful not to pierce them. the front replacement are made by centric. not as good as mb/brembo but fits.

Why is it so hard to post the cost? Is it a secret? Just say it...I see calipers both front and rear and why do they say AMG if it it standard S600?

it's not hard. i just choose not to. MbenzNL took the time to figure out which caliper and rotor/pad would work for w221 and sourced out the kit and packaged it to send them to us. that should count for something. i think his price is more than reasonable. it obvious that you can now find your own s600 rear caliper since you are in europe, so why do you care how much i paid i don't want people to get mad at MbenzNL if the price changes in the future.
the amg is just a sticker. i stripped the finish already. not going to put an amg sticker on if i don't have one. save your flaming posts.

Nice upgrade , I called the shop where I did my brake upgrade, and for the SL55 drilled rotor using the part numbers your posted they quoted $104x2 for the Rotors and $127x2 for the SL 65 brake pads .

Chris, if you ever saw the official Mercedes Benz photos for the 2011 S600 refresh (It was a Brown S600), you can see these 6 piston calipers on the front and 4 piston on the rear).

parts.com is a lot cheaper. the rotors are $75x2 and pads are $95 ( both side). i think the price is crazy cheap compared to the front amg or bmw m series. it's very easy to change it yourself. the hardest part for me was to find the 18mm wrench to remove the rear calipers.

It's direct swap. Irieblue did it 2yrs ago already. Check his thread. Not much bigger but alot lighter and matches the back. I recommend u Check the price of rotors before u upgrade the front.
