Need advice on rims
I have my car in for transmission fluid change recommended at $39K miles and just got the bad news from the dealer.
Two rims are cracked and need replacing. The dealer wants roughly $2700 for the two rims.
Need advice - what are my choices? Can these be repaired? Can they be purchased elsewhere cheaper? Or are there OEM wheels that I can replace these with and not spoil the looks of the car?
It's a 2007 s550 4matic with the AMG package.
Appreciate any advice - money is tight right now.

Browse EBay, you may find used ones much cheaper. Here are examples :

agree with all of the above replies...spending that kinda of money factory is silly..save your money...
there are many aftermarket offerings on ebay on replica rims. Buy an entire new set for 650-and below 1000 brand new you won't notice any difference.
19's or 20's?

These are 19" wheels.
Thanks for the advice on aftermarket rims. I looked on eBay, and OEMwheels seems to be big seller. However, every time I went through vehicle check, it said the wheels were not compatible.
Can anyone suggest a decent aftermarket choice?
Thanks again.

Can you elaborate on what you mean when you say vehicle check? People upgrade their wheels to aftermarket all the time without any issues.
Do you mean because you have a 4matic and the wheels need to be the same and non-staggered? If so there has been various discussions on running staggered on a 4matic and not recommended but people do it all the time.
Don't let the dealer persuade you....

At the bottom of the ebay page for this particular seller (oemwheels or allfactorywheels), there is a section where you can plug in your make and model and it comes back and tells you whether the wheels are compatible or not.

try independent tire stores in your area so you will be able to see the styles and make sure it fits correctly with no problems. rims and tires play a great role on these cars. also check discount tires they have a great selections too.

Wife drives the E. I don't think selling the car (with 40k miles) at a huge loss makes any sense in any case. Pretty drastic advice for someone looking for a cheaper solution to replacing rims.

Advice was given based on first statement you made and the fact that on the sidebar under your user name, you "drives" 2007 S550; 2008 E350. If that is your only car and the only thing you care about is a cheap replacement, Ebay is swimming with options, GL with your search. TC

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
On the advice of my independent garage, I decided to take it to a place that specializes in straightening rims and fixing cracked rims.
Just got the car back today and all seems well for now. I have no idea how long the welds will last, but for the money it was worth the try. The cracks could not have been so bad since the tires were still holding air.
I will post again if I discover this was not such a good idea!
