keyless go or not??

keyless go or not??
Please can someone help me???
I have just bought a 2007 W216 500CL here in London. I can lock and unlock the car using the button on the doorhandles, but I still have to put the key into the ignition if I want to start the engine.
I have option 889 on my datasheet, but the dealer (not mercedes btw) is insistent that the car does not have a push button option. I was lead to believe that there as some sort of plug, that fitted over the ignition socket which gave this functionality, and also that this plug could be removed if you were leave the car to be cleaned or valeted for example....
Mercedes just don't know and want to charge me to inspect (and charge) before they can even tell me if I am able to get a replacement plug/button assumed mine has been lost.
Please can anyone shed any light on the issue before I have to pay the dealer???
thanks
Alex

If you have option 889 you do have Keyless-Go.
If you can unlock by just pulling the handle and lock the door(s) by holding your finger or thumb against the sensor(with your key in your pocket) that is a definitive positive.
Then it looks like you are just missing the'start'- button..

Yes, if you have Keyless Go (option 889), you have the option of using the pressure button. The part number is 221 545 07 14. Just plug it in and you may need to wait about 30 seconds for the button to be recognized. That's it, you are good to go.
When searching for my S550, I saw quite a number of models with Keyless Go that had the Pressure Button removed. Also in some cases, the Keyless Go lock and unlock feature appeared to not work because the second key was in the vicinity. The easiest way to quickly tell if Keyless Go is installed is if the outside door handle has the indented button.

brilliant - I thought so - but its a problem when buying from a non-franchised dealer I guess...so no programming of the button at MB required?? That's great news! I'll order one tomorrow!

The level of knowledge never ceases to amaze me on this forum. Sure enough - ordered exact part, arrived next day £27 ($35)...plugged in, works immediately!! How can dealers not know this??!!
Now - just the rear sunshade (not working although I can hear a feint click when I use the command wheel to try to extend/retract) and bluetooth issues (viseoo MB-4 doesn't work) to fix...
thanks for help so far!

You'd be surprised how much dealers don't know or care to tell people because they don't want to deal with it if something does not work.
My mechanic told me if they have a customer with a burned out headlight bulb they change bulb and balast... Because if balast goes out in a month people come bak saying you just paid you to get the bulb and it doesn't work again, now dealer is out 600 buck to change the balast because they can't prove anything...
Even many mechanics don't know anything beyond star diagnostics and bulletins, quite sad.
Thanks to this board I was able to install voice and bluetooth on all of my cars, euro nav in my old clk and a few other small options. Mechanic always told me it can't be done if didn't come from factory. I bring the car in for service and entire shop is drooling over my euro command... Go figure.

Malahor,
How did you get voice to work in your car? Apparantly I cannot get it to work in mine...the independant says it did not come with it....is it a difficult thing to add? I do have the voice button on my steering wheel but it does not show as activated in the STAR system when connected.

Thanks for this thread. I have all the door keyless-go stuff and I thought it was really odd there was no push button. Also considering my ignition is digital and not electrical (you can just turn the key to start without holding it over), I found it strange.
THanks again. MBWorld is the s4!t!

In NA you haven't had to hold the key in the start position since at least before the W 220 series.

S5502007, please keep me in the loop if you finally succeed getting your voice command to work. With my '08 221 I also have problems with the cell phone. I can place calls, complete the call, hear the person I called but they can't hear me. The dealer says it is the microphone which is in the inside mirror but I'm suspicious because of my voice command problem. I suspect both are software issues but obviously my dealer is unaware of a solution.

2012 S550 4MATIC- Magnetite Black Metallic, 2001 S430- Obsidian Black Metallic
Hello! I just bought a 2012 S550 a few days ago. When I ran the VIN in a decoder it said I have option 889 for Keyless-GO. However, the car did not come with the button. Can I just buy any MB Keyless-GO button from eBay or does it have to be brand new from the dealer?
