An interesting read right here :

https://mbworld.org/forums/new-s-cla...-question.html

Personally I would stick to original or better brand rotors.

However ceramic pads are ok :

I would not get those and since original has drilled etc rotors guess its ok.

Get the Jurid or Ate brand or better: Brembo or equivalent just my 2 cents..

For pads I am looking at the Akebono ones myself, but difficult to get here in Europe.Guess I have to settle for some extra shippingcost from the US ..

Have a look at car part kings or rockauto for pads..

original rotors on the s550 are drilled?

so i would need to buy drilled ones?

from the articles ive read on here drilled and slotted ones are bad for brade pad wear, and since its drilled the rotor isnt 'solid'

does anyone have any more insight?

I6 and V6 Diesels
Front OEM rotors are drilled (not slotted), rear are solid. I would suggest staying as close to the OEM specs as possible (either use the MB part or the same manufacturer for the replacement part). Over my 9 Mercedes since 1985, I've found it best to keep the car original, as a lot of engineering went into the OEM parts & fluids, and only on rare occasion can you improve upon it. Just be sure to properly re-torque the wheels after replacing the pads and rotors, otherwise they will warp in record time. Also here's a post from another forum you may find helpful. http://bit.ly/ME5CfT Hope this helps.
