Midcity Engineering VIM not working - please help
Hi guys,
I picked up a midcity engineering video in motion for my w221. Everything is connected correctly as per their instructions. Video works when I apply the park. Now here is what is not working:
I put the car out of park while dvd is playing and the movie disappears and a message comes on video will be blanked, etc.
So what I do next is hold the mute button to active the VIM but nothing happens next and video does not appear. I did various things, park, unpark, mute, unmute, put in drive, reverse..whatever combinations it does not work.
For you guys who have the VIM, can you advise what you did to get it working? Or did I get a defective unit?
Thanks.

Good question. ..not sure yet..i'll have to play around further with it. But once you activate it's good for the time that the car is on...not sure when i turn off...but turning it back on via the phone off switch in my opinion doesn't seem to be a big deal.
I'll be doing a full review of the product and upload it to youtube this weekend..keep you all posted.
Thanks.

It's set that way on purpose. If you turn the vehicle off with the VIM engaged, it will default to the off position the next time you start the vehicle and you will have to reactivate VIM if you choose to use it.
Keep in mind that when using the VIM, some other things are/may be affected....
-navigation may not track properly as the COMAND is being fooled into thinking that it is in park
-reversing camera may not display, also for the same reason

I'm sure everyone's vehicle will vary slightly but my navigation and back up camera work perfectly when VIM is activated. Absolutely love the VIM....

MBWorld Fanatic!
At first I though I wouldn't need it, so when I had a chance last year to buy it for a good price along with remote start, I didn't. Now I have a ton of music that I don't want to spend time stripping audio from and convert to mp3 I'm sorry I'd didn't get it.

Yes.
It shouldn't disconnect your nav completely, however it may make it track erratically as the comand is being fooled to think the vehicle is parked. The vim is removing one method of tracking the vehicle which is the speed pulse information. The gps antenna is still active.
