iPod Music Limitation?

iPod Music Limitation?
Hello gents... I have an 08 S-550 with an iPod adapter in the glove box. I can use my buttons on the steering wheel to change playlists, artists, albums, etc. One problem I have which I have no idea on what to do is this... I have a 160GB iPod and is loaded with 12,000 songs and 1 audiobook... I'm only using 85GB of data on the iPod so plenty of room left. I can't seem to see all of my songs, playlists, albums, audiobooks. Is there something I need to do to have my car recognize all of the iPod data? Thanks for your help in advance!

My experience with the Comand system may or may not apply to iPods but it's similar nevertheless.In experimenting with the PCMCIA slot of my Comand unit one of the things I did was load just over 5,000 MP3's,amounting to about 30GB of data,onto a 32GB SD card.The Comand unit read and played the songs flawlessly *except* for the fact that it would only recognize 5,000 songs...*EXACTLY* 5,000 songs.Did the very same thing with a 32GB CF card...same result,perfect performance except for the recognition of *exactly* 5,000 songs.

Not sure.Given that *my* problem involves a nice round number I'm tempted to think that it isn't a malfunction but,rather,just the way the system was designed.The same may,or may not,be true of your situation.If I'm correct about mine and yours is pretty much the same then an update could,I suppose,remedy the situation.A call to your local dealer may answer that question for you.For that matter,it occurred to me that *your* problem could be an iPod malfunction or due to the iPod design.Perhaps if you made sure your iPod had the latest updates from Apple's website that might help.It certainly couldn't hurt.

my ipod is current and works well outside the S-550.. so by deduction, it seems, it's a S-550 ipod software problem... I'll check with my dealership...

Dealership said there was a limitation and "it happens" and a command update won't fix it. Any other suggestions or creative ideas besides downgrading my iPod ?

I know this is not what you want to hear but can you create a playlist of your "favorite" 5000 songs and leave it at that. Or if you have more than one ipod have 5000 on each? I know this is primiative but these are only suggestions.
