Adding v8 Bi-Turbo Emblem on side of a 2012 s550 ???
Adding v8 Bi-Turbo Emblem on side of a 2012 s550 ???
I just got a 2012 s550 and it has a v8 Bi-Turbo engine. I wanted to remove the BlueEfficiency emblem and replace it with a v8 Bi-Turbo emblem on the side fenders. I have the following questions:
1- Is it tacky to add the emblem of the v8 Bi-Turbo (same as the s63’s). Note that I would NOT add the AMG emblem on the back, but would remove the s550 emblem from the rear trunk lip. Remember that the new 2012 s class does have a v8 Bi-Turbo motor, so that is a true statement.
2 - Where can I buy them ???

I would add it, since it does have V8 bi-turbo. At the end of the day its really up to you what you do with your car. Plus some people dont care what others think, some people do and want everyone to know what engine they have.

Honestly I think it's a little tacky. If I saw it in person the first thing I'd think/ check is if they added a poser AMG badge. Because typically when stuff like this is done it screams poser (even though you're telling the truth) and the car will have other add ons such as sticker fender vents and chrome pillars.
Honestly I think the more humble the better.
But if you do add it, I'll still be your friend. haha

this is a great reply I agree .... there are little things that makes up the owners vehicle and if has characteristics of and like the OEM then I say if it makes you happy your car go do it.

Is it Accurate?
Because the S65 has this emblem as a manufacturers decision doesn't make it unusable, forbidden or a lie for a model that possesses the same aforementioned claim. If you have a V 8 BITURBO you're just stating what is factual the very thing that Mercedes has chosen to do with the S65.
My thought point is: if its accurate then go for it. If your car is as an emblem states then why not?

I certainly wouldn't do it. WPWH28 a/k/a "Badges" added the "V12 bi-turbo" badges to his S600....and I thought it looked poser-esque. IMO, the S-class is not a car that should be all cheesed up with a bunch of stick-on badges. I have a V12 bi-turbo in mine, and I think it's just fine with the V12 badge only on the sides. In fact, I've considered removing those V12 badges altogether. I like that most people don't know what kind of monster engine I have in my car. Not many folks would believe a car as large and imposing as the S600 could run to 60 in under 4.5 seconds or clear the 1/4 mile in the low 12's, and still be just as comfortable as a Maybach or Bentley.

There's a guy with an instagram account called fakeamgbusta. He spots folks with AMG badges on non AMG vehicles - Mercedes and non-Mercedes! I say put the Twin Turbo badge if you want to put it on. That's legit. Just don't be like some folks I've seen on fakamgbusta such as a Toyota Tercel with an AMG tag or Mercedes GLK with a VW grille emblem pretending to be a VW Tiguan SUV....serious, no sh#t!!!

Removing the S550 indicates intent to pose IMO.
I personally have never bothered with adding or removing badges but in case of V12 BMW's & MB's I have been bothered by the gaudy interior V12 emblems.

For some reason, badges are the one thing I won't touch. It's funny, because I basically turned my S550 into an S63 clone...(real) S63 wheels, (fake) quad exhaust and rear diffuser...but I don't think I'd add a badge that wasn't there or delete one that is. I do agree the BlueTec badge is stupid looking though. I probably would kill that one and just leave the fender un-badged.

do what you want, it's your car after all. Stick a v16 quad turbo badge on there if you want. 75% of the people out there don't know the difference anyway.
The part number for the V8 Biturbo badge is 2228171615.
It's available at any mercedes dealer or online parts website... Here's a link to one for $45... most other places want $55

I might do this as well. I have a badge on the side of mine that says blue efficiency. I didn't buy this car for efficiency, I bought it for the whole "F you" I pee gas all over the road to mark my territory factor. Don't judge.

I would do it as well . It's not like wearing a fake Rolex Datejust II and saying the inquisitive folks that's a real gem

It's not an AMG badge, and the car is indeed a V8 Biturbo, so I see absolutely nothing wrong with labeling it as such with an OEM badge. It is 100% accurate in your case, and therefore not "poser" in any way, as long as you do not add an AMG badge or remove or alter the other original badges on the car. Go for it!
