Polishing the windshield
Polishing the windshield
The windshield on my 2008 S550 is a bit pitted due to road debris.
Is there a recommended substance/polish that I can use to hand polish the windshield?
Thanks

The insurance company will pay without deductible, unfortunately like I found out ,when you switch insurance it's in your record and you pay a higher premium.
I would check with a glass repair company before you use any abrasive polish.
As I understand windshield pits are repaired by filling them with a resin that has the same refractive index as the windshield glass, so the pits seem to disappear.
On a previous vehicle I had pits fixed that were in my line of sight and would fail inspection, a mobile repair unit came out and filled the holes which became invisible for the inspection. There may be some additional issues with any advanced windshield treatments on these vehicles, but an installer/repair company should know.
As for insurance coverage your policy may give you a "free repair" but you may still find it affects your claim-free status in the future, so ask your insurance company or better still your broker for details. I am never sure if by asking an insurance company about a possible claim they increase your risk anyway!
Let us know what you choose.
BTW I have a couple of pits in my S Class windscreen from passing trucks but they have not affected my inspection and are not in line of sight.
