Happy New Year to everyone too!

Have been searching the web several times for the engineering menu on W221 ,so far no luck.
Afaik vim can only be done with a module , would be great if a hacker could reverse engineer any comand NGT version, I think its too expensive to get a complete comand setup and start experimenting away.
You would basically have to have a spare W221, a lot of specific knowledge and time on your hands , which seems to be quite a difficult combination..

I'm afraid you need something more than access to this menu.

Here in the Netherlands there are a few services who will unlock video in motion for you, often with dealer permission (I was even referred to them by my MB dealer).

AFAIK they hook something up to the diagnostics interface and unlock video in motion.

If someone can get me access to a Star, I'll figure it out. (I know a bit about software hacking)...

Shouldn't you have access to this tool that is used to activate video, not the Star diagnosis system.

That would be cool. I did see a video of this on a w221. When I got the car, the lines didn't move and I wondered why. Is this something only certain countries get? It is helpful.

Also, the above technique in the video doesn't seem to work on a S class? That's a CL.

There is a menu that contains the speed setting for Video, if you do not have SplitView, then you need to get to this menu and increase the speed to the max to have video in motion without a 3rd party module.

Nuru,

What if you have a split view?

Can you help us on how to get the menu if you know how?

If you have SplitView, then the passenger has VIM view. to get it for the driver, I would imagine it is getting it configured by using the DAS/XENTRY system and configuring the menu in the car that sets the kmph/mph for VIM from the Factory set low speed of 3 kmph to something a lot faster? I don't have a DAS/XENTRY system so I cannot tell you how to configure this - probably some of our fellow forum family that are MB Techs in Europe can assist with an explanation?

Pre 2008 w221 with rear view camera had active lines, the lines were generated by an additional module situated in the left rear wing made by Japanese company Aisin.

After 2008 they deleted this option and all had static lines coded in to the headunit

I bet even if you somehow rigged up the hideously expensive module (last time I looked it was 1999 US$) you will be stuck with the static lines as well from you comand unit

as for video in motion, I would expect its changeable in the star menu to turn on and off.... not all countries have it as illegal, and if you have split view left hand drive vs right hand drive cars need it swapped side to side anyway
