S550 (4.6TT) Vs. S63 (6.2)
Anyone have any real life info on the tuned S550 (4.6TT)? Are there any comparisons out there to S63 (6.2)?
Seems like a 2011+ S550 with AMG package could be a better performer than S63 (6.2).

BTW sick S Lorinser! I love the color and kit.
Plenty of power to be had from the 550 (4.6TT) or 600 (5.5TT) to get them to be close performers to stock S65.
I acutally want to go down in engine size to have less wheel spin and more power on top after the tune. I have so much TQ that my 1st gear is useless even with my 295 Super Sport rears. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to drive the S65 around town and constantly have your traction control come on. All that and not to mention the additional cost the S65 carries.
He also mentioned I could use CO2 in place of nitrous (or have 1 NOS + 2 CO2 tanks) on a relay for different performance modes.. [cost becomes a factor when you're injecting full time]
It just seems like overkill for an S though.. Although it would be entertaining at times..

maybe consider an actual performance car and not a luxury sedan with a powerful engine.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Looking @ Toy cars, I've been considering an SLS, but just can't seem to justify the cost for a car I'll drive once a month (if that).. I'd rather have a boat for that money. (One of my investments is a Marine Services Company). So cost to maintain a boat vs. a Toy car (performance oriented car) is about the same for me.
Thanks for the info. I think I'm about 60% committed to the tune. Just want to do some more research on warranty-esque issues.
Cheers.

Don't get me wrong. I've owned an AMG or two. I like them. They do a great job for the buyer who wants a bit more power. For a true performance enthusiast (like many on this board), I would assume a bit of research would've been in order.
While I like my Benz and I like my AMG Benz(s, es?), there is so much more performance to be had (and reliable performance at that) from the premier tuners for the same or less money. Just the fact that Brabus can reliably take a TT4.6 to V-limited 186 says a lot. I actually inquired about lifting the limiter altogether and they basically said, "uhm.. no" which makes me wonder at what point the car takes flight.. lol. (seriously).
I understand the crackerjack standards mentality of just buying AMG and being done with it and not worrying about warranties and such, but at least one tuner (Brabus) offers a complete drop-in replacement warranty for the entire power/drive train. The only thing you miss out on is the free loaner, but for that level of performance, I'd rent a car for the one or two times it would be in the shop.
While a V12 is nice (and I've owned a couple in my time), I'd just buy a stock V-12 (600?) and take it to the tuner for the deluxe treatment. I will say that whenever I bought a V12, it wasn't for the extra power, but for the smoother, more defined torque/acceleration curve any V12 provides.. Something a TT would be hard to provide even if finely tuned. Throw a couple of Turbos on a V12 (with the right tuner) and you have a car that provides the best of all worlds, although, at that point much more needs to be taken into consideration (aerodynamics, brakes, Tires / Wheels).
There's also something to be said about wearing Brabus nomenclature and having the (excuse the vernacular) ***** to back it up. I still don't understand rebadging a car and not doing any performance mods to it though.. I'm more the type to order option 261 (MBs badge delete designation). It's more fun that way.
Am I wrong to make this assumption or am I just completely missing something here?
**yes.. I like Brabus. They just seem to perpetually get it right most of the time. Putting a warranty behind an enhancement says a lot about reliability in my eyes.

I'd be interested in seeing what a tuned S550 TT could do against a stock S63 and S65 respectively.

when you spend 10 to 15k to MOD that's one thing but when it costs only
$1000 to take 600's to better than 65 stock performance that's AMAZING and fair comparison
600 hp and 700 pounds of TQ
Should 600bhp be enough for even the most addicted power freak...yes.
