Narrowed it Down - Need Opinions
i have narrowed down my choices to 2 cars, very similiar specs, etc.. I am curious to people's thoughts on which one of the two they prefer.

The first one is certified and being sold thru a MB Dealership- it's an 07 vs the other which is an 08. The Car Fax says 4 owners, the MB Dealer says it had 2 owners as it was retitled when the owner moved- He provided me with all of the details of the service history which goes back to 3/8

this one is an 08, one owner no warranty, not pre certified, looks like it has the sport package, curious what others would do given these 2 choices- thanks

The CPO one ives you a factory warranty. Also, the CPO process itself is only undertaken on a car that is in good enough shape to be certified. The final thing, should yo seek an extended warranty beyond the CPO, it is far easier to get if you are alread under warranty. It sounds like you have already made up your mind on the other one. I think you will like either just fine.

Funny, I was looking at this car last night to purchase it for myself (herb chambers one). I had the same color before I got in an accident with it and it was claimed a total loss.
Definitely go with a CPO one because any small repair could be costly on a car like this.
To give you an idea, I just got one from another competing dealership, with 3k less miles, more options, CPO for 40k.
So keep looking

2012 S600 Lunar Blue
I'm familiar with the PA dealer and they are pretty good. Find out what they did to the 07 to qualify for the CPO vs the 08 such as tires brakes etc. Would question both dealers. This might help you make a decision. I have an 07 S600, this is the first model year for the W221. Have had my share of problems that maybe have been address in the second model year. Would urge you to do more research before you buy. These babies are expensive to repair. I bought mine used and TG I bought extended warranty. If you live near the PA dealer shoot me a PM.

I would go with the 08. It has the sports package, 4matic and is 1.5 years newer if you look at the delivery dates on the Carfax reports.
Only a Mercedes Benz dealer can offer a Mercedes CPO warranty. Just because a Mercedes vehicle being sold by a non-Mercedes dealer is not CPO does not mean it is not in just as good or better condition than your typical CPO Mercedes. CPO is great but it's not the end all be all of warranties and I see threads all the time with somebody complaining about how CPO doesn't cover items that would be covered by an aftermarket warranty. I would get some quotes for aftermarket warranties on the 08 vs extending the CPO warranty on the 07 to determine final cost. The CPO warranties are expensive. The 08 with a aftermarket warranty may ultimately be less expensive.

Personally, I think the OP could find a better deal than either of the vehicles. I cannot speak to the quality of aftermarket warranties, but, I cannot imagine an aftermarket warranty covering more than either the original new warranty or the CPO warranty. With CPO, the parts used for the repair will all be genuine Mercedes parts. In the north, 4Matic is definitely a plus; however, I had a RWD E350 Bluetec that got through Pennsylvania winters just fine with a set of snow tires. I would definitely get quotes for the cost of a third party extended warranty for the 08 to see what is covered and for how long.

If you research and compare, you can find aftermarket warranties that exceed the coverage offered by CPO. Aftermarket warranty options may also be purchased from a Mercedes dealer, they are sold by the ones in my area. Genuine parts would also be used if you have all work performed by a Mercedes dealer.

very helpful
i didnt realize the 07 wasnt a 4matic, so thank you everyone. It's being sold by Herb Chambers but it's not a MB Dealership, so no warranty, no CPO- other than that the car is great.

It's just another revenue source for them. The aftermarket warranty will be backed by another company, most likely CNA, which as far as I know can only be purchased through a dealer. What I like about buying through the dealer is that all interaction will be through the dealer if you use the dealer's service shop.
