W221 wheel/tire combo recommendations
I have the stock chrome wheels on my 08 W221 running 255/45/18 tires. The stock 18s look small on the S-Class IMO and want to get something to fill wheel well better. I am looking for some recommendations for wheel/tire combo.
This is a daily driver and I am from Chicago, so we have notorious pot holes. Being a daily driver I want to maintain the comfort ride and not have to worry about bent rims. I am thinking either 19 or 20 and would like a wider rear wheel depending on what can fit.
I have always been a fan of deep dish rims, but concave wheels are getting my attention these days.
I have the winter wheel/tire combo with Dunlop SP winter M3s mounted currently and chromes stored away. These new wheels will be for summer time only.

How much of a difference would be going from 18 to 19 inch?
Can I still use 45 tall tires?
I am thinking 8.5 front and 9.5 rear ( what tire width would that be)

22" still looks small on s550
I have 18" for winter months.
22" for summer :-) our w221 is a big full size sedan.
From 18" to 19" you wouldn't notice much looks wise.
Go with 22" for hot weather months :-)

I decided to get some HRE 948 wheels. They seem to compliment the large S sedan well. 20x8.5 front and 20x10.5 rear.
Looking for recommendations for tire sizes. Tire rack recommends 255x35x20 for front and 285x30x20 rear. It will keep the same ratio as stock but want to fill the wheel well a bit. Will a 40 in front and 35 in rear work? How about rear width without rubbing?

Stay with appropriate tire ratio in order to keep spedometer functioning properly. bigger rims will not get rid of the gap if you keep tire ratio in check, you need to lower it.
Desing of weels will play a rone in looking big or small as well. Im running 20s and they seem small.
You will notice a good difference going form 18 to 20, but a small one 18 to 19.
Type of tiers will also play a role in comfort. In chicago i would not go more than 20, its already pushing it with the types of road conditions we have here sometimes.
I went with 20's had 19 originaly. im all about comfort so i notice the difference. But in C mode its still comfy enough in winter and in summer it is soft enough in S mode.
have a glance here: https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ew-wheels.html
Once snow showers pickup i'l put my winter set on and those are runing on 17 inch rims.

You can run the same profile tire all around if you want a square tire setup. However, if you want a staggered setup you will have to run different profile sizes. The middle number like 35 is not a measurement, it is an aspect ratio to the width of the tire. If you run a 245/40 and 275/35 the tires will actually look very similar size in height. If you run a 245/35 and 275/35 the the rear tire will have a lot taller profile.

11" at the rear - have you tried it yourself ?
What tire width and what are the ET on those rims ?
See- there is is SLS-wheels for sale a very long way from me.
They are 9,5" ET 60 + 11" ET68 x20 with 265/35 and 295/30. Have to use spacers but since they are so far from me it isnt easy to try them on before i buy and have them shipped.
Are you absolutely sure they will fit with the right spacer ?
Please advice me
