It doesnt say storage it says stowage(one's for storing the other for securing items already stored), which they are probably referring to the fire extinguisher and 1st aid kit I didnt even know about this, but to be honest I know very little about this car I havent even had my 1st oil change.

Wait maybe just for Euro models? Hey Jason, have you checked to see if its there?
I wouldnt even know about the adaptive high beams if it wasnt for you guys. I did figure out "Hold" function when you double tap the brakes. This was due to me actually looking for that feature because my BMW 750 had a hold feature like that but it was actually far superior. You could put the car in "Auto Park" which allows the car to hold automatically each time you touch the brake, this was to be used in heavy traffic situations and also steep hills roads.

The containers themselves should be there.
Afaik in here in Europe RH-side comes with First-aid kit . LH-side fire-extuighuiser is an option.
Possibly someone has removed the containers as they make noise and open up spontaneously if not closed properly.

Hmm. I can't open anything. I think they may have been in 07-09 and were taken away for the refresh in 2010+ at least for USA?

well those seats and interior suggest that its a refresh so i would only assume that maybe its euro models.

That's a US car above 07-09. Looks like they removed them for 10-13.
Also, the middel sections of the leather seats are a different style for 2010+

That one with the extinguisher has the steering wheel on the right so its def a Euro car. I had these storage units in my SL55 and also have these on my 2007 S550 now. My CL600 has them as well I believe but I will check.

Cool. I'd like an answer as to "why" they were removed, which we will probably never get. The physical design of the seat didn't change. It's just gone.

I'm waking up an old thread--please see the attached PDF. I used my U.S. VIN, and EPC shows me a storage bin. How come? Mine is a 2013 and nothing opens.

For some reason 07-09 only has the storage bins. I think they are a great feature and still don't know why 10-13's don't have them. I don't think it would be hard to add them?

Presuming the seat frame and mechanisms have not changed between the pre and post facelift, that's exactly what I am going to try to do. I will remove the panels one of these days to see if the mounting points are there.

Don't waste your time trying to install these in your car. They are only good for something like a sealed water bottle. They tip down to load the small fire extinguisher, then tip back up to stow it. They are in the molded shape for a round object like the extinguisher and putting anything else in there like small objects you could easily lose them under the seat.
These are not storage drawers like you find in other cars/minivans.

Hmm, thanks dave. So you are saying if you put a wallet in there, as soon as you close the door, the wallet would fall out and onto the floor?
I would put a water bottle in there though. I'm always drinking water and would be a good place to hide it.

You probably wouldn't lose a wallet under the seat....but stuff could fall out of it and that could slip through the cracks. IMO, not worth spending any money on it. You can clearly tell exactly what the purpose of those bins are. I'm sure they stopped adding those bins because they figured out that they are pointless in the US where we don't require fire extinguishers.

Ok, so you'd have no problem swapping your bins out for mine if I send my blanks to you ?
Thanks for the info.

Just to clarify.
I have a Euro spec 2010 S500.
The factory fire extinguisher is under the drivers seat in a bin, as shown above.
However the first aid kit is in the boot on the right side mounted under an elastic band.
My passenger seat has no storage. Which I do find strange as my old S211 had the first aid kit in a bin under the passenger side seat.
For you Americans that miss first aid and fire extinguishers, I hear a sub Glock fits well.

Interesting that you do not have passenger storage. Maybe cost-cutting?

Well, I decided to waste my money. I bought a pair of the storage and framework from a 2007. I EPC'd the part numbers between an 07 and 13, and those are the only differences. I am optimistic that they will fit. If I can keep a bottle of water (or Glock :-p) in it, I'll be happy.
